U.S. intelligence agencies were aware months ago that Army Major Nidal Hasan was attempting to make contact with people associated with al Qaeda, two American officials briefed on classified material in the case told ABC News.
It is not known whether the intelligence agencies informed the Army that one of its officers was seeking to connect with suspected al Qaeda figures, the officials said.

This is, as far as I know, not true. There was an attempted bombing at OU a few years ago which the media buried almost as soon as it happened. There was a suspicious plane crash in queens ny shortly after 9/11. I think there were a few other items, but cannot recall. It is the clear policy of the US to not recognize publicly any terror attempt unless simply forced to by wild success, and even then deny it.
I hope that it WILL come out. I’m concerned that it may be surpressed.
If this is proven to be the case, then IMPEACH this marxist dog NOW! We live in dangerous times, and having a CIC who is incapable of protecting and defending our country is not acceptable...
This is a separate issue. The Army knew this guy was anti-American, pro-jihad and did nothing.
The CIA would be correct in keeping quite to see what channels of communication Al Queda was using.

There have been many cases of Sudden Jihad Syndrome on American soil since 9/11. Most on Bush's watch, only because he was in office at the time.
A few - DC Snipers (one sentenced to die tomorrow), Utah mall (perp was shouting Allah Akbar), perp at El Al airlines in LA, perp at Jewish Center in Seattle (on trial this week). An SUV driven into a college campus with the intent to kill.
