Officials: U.S. Aware of Hasan Efforts to Contact al Qaeda
ABC News ^ | 11/9/2009 | Richard Esposito

U.S. intelligence agencies were aware months ago that Army Major Nidal Hasan was attempting to make contact with people associated with al Qaeda, two American officials briefed on classified material in the case told ABC News.

It is not known whether the intelligence agencies informed the Army that one of its officers was seeking to connect with suspected al Qaeda figures, the officials said.

One senior lawmaker said the CIA had, so far, refused to brief the intelligence committees on what, if any, knowledge they had about Hasan's efforts.

CIA director Leon Panetta and the Director of National Intelligence, Dennis Blair, have been asked by Congress "to preserve" all documents and intelligence files that relate to Hasan, according to the lawmaker.

On Sunday, Senator Joseph Lieberman (D-CT) called for an investigation into whether the Army missed signs as to whether Hasan was an Islamic extremist.

"If Hasan was showing signs, saying to people that he had become an Islamist extremist, the U.S. Army has to have a zero tolerance," Lieberman told Fox News Sunday.

Our regime in Washington has been so darn busy with campaigns, golf and monitoring gun/religion/ border security/anti-abortion clingers to have time to track an actual terrorist.

This guy did everything but hang a sign on his back saying, “I’m going to kill American infidel dogs” while he wandered around the military base down in Texas.

[[My favorite ‘diagnosis’ is pre-post traumatic stress disorder.]]

His freaking lawyers are probably goig n to attempt to coin a new phrase “PRE-Traumatic stress disorder” where the poor ‘victim’ envisions growing conspiracy against them, and snaps, and then commits terrorism (which htey’ll no doubt label as simple ‘lashing out’ at ‘deluded perceived threats’

How can we win a war if we can't admit we are in one or don't fight to win?

Yes, we are UNDER attack.

Here's a PARTIAL, INCOMPLETE list of Islamic attacks INSIDE the United States
(with hundreds of more incidences which likely go unreported):

My guess is about three days ago...

Probably shaved, cleaned up and wearing a Hawaiian shit to remember Zer0's reported place of birth.

What a freaking joke, with the FBI told by the WH to not consider terrorism in their investigation.

Go figure!

Political correctness is a cancer and should be treated as such. It has infiltrated every aspect of the government, to include the military. btw, if many of them idiots have forgotten, cancer, untreated, destroys and ultimately leads to death.

How do you know the time frame wasn't when Bush was president

Obama has been in charge for 11 months now, that's 2 months longer than Bush was in office on 9/11. I suspect that Obama has had enough time to connect the dots. Perhaps if he didn't spend all his time tearing down the intelligence community, calling them liars and allowing his AG to prosecute field personnel he would be in a better position to understand the risks we are facing.

Yet they did nothing to have this POS kicked out of the military. Feds are nothing more than PC spineless worms who are afraid to uphold their oath to protect/defend.

Himmler came pretty close, actually. They were combing the planet for all kinds of Egyptian artifacts - things they could tie into the whole mythology around Aryanism.

Political correctness has been clearly demonstrated to endanger America's National Security.

The blood of those murdered is on the hands of the senior leadership of the Army who FAILED to take action against MAJ Mohamemed or whatever the hell his name is.

It is this failure on behalf of Mohammed's leadership that has caused great Americans to be murdered.

The FBI leadership is showing the entire world that they are nothing more than weak opportunists if they are running around saying, "not a terrorist attack, not a terrorist attack, not a terrorist attack."

Not only do they severely undermine their credibility with such blatant horsesh!t and lies, they endanger Americans everywhere by ignoring the REAL threat: Islamic terrorism.

By ignoring the islamic terrorist problem, the FBI all but guarantees that America's enemies will only become more emboldened because of the their weak "wish it all away" response to this terrorist attack.

That mosque should have been raided by FBI officials years ago, and the leaders there should have been arrested and deported.

The damn place was nothing more than a staging area for terrorist operations, and the FBI did nothing to stop this from happening.

They were "watching" him? That did a lot of good when the bastard was shooting great Americans in the face.

Fumbling Bumbling IDIOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"If Hitler had been as clever as Mohammed, he would have proclaimed Nazism to be a new religion.

Then PC-uber-alles dolts would demand that Nazi SS “priests” should be allowed to join the US Army, even as they preached the slaughter of non-Nazis.

And when these Nazi SS “priests” massacred Americans, these PC dolts would worry more about a potential backlash against “moderate Nazis” than the safety of Americans."

Superb point.

I am too. Glad to see it and hope it's because someone is finally getting a clue.

" ...remember to call it a terrorist attack!"

No. Terrorism is the act of using indiscriminate violence to inflict a psychological toll on your enemy. It's a tool for magnifying the actual damage. The sum is greater than the parts, in other words.

Certainly the 9/11 attacks were terrorism: 19 bad guys shut down transportation and paralyzed the country with effects that reverberate to this day. Certainly the Beltway Sniper shootings were terrorism: an entire region lived in fear throughout the weeks that Muhummad and Malvo were picking off their victims.

I'm no defender of Hasan, but it's not clear to me that he intended to strike fear into anyone's heart beyond the folks in his cross-hairs.

Let's not be quick to call every bad act--even bad acts by shrieking bloodthirsty Muslims--terrorism.

What this was was jihad. Terrorism is one tool of jihad. This wasn't terrorism. This was a bid for martyrdom by slaughtering the infidels Hasan felt were invading Muslim lands, and nothing more.

And what, exactly, did we learn from 9/11?

That there really are people in this country stupid enough to believe that Bush was behind (and responsible for) the attacks? That Barrack Hussein Obama, ummmm ummmm ummmm, thinks America brought 9/11 upon itself and therefore deserved the attack? That leftists are so delusional and hate-filled that they actually believe the anti-American spew against their own country? That the politically correct crowd is now in charge (again) and they will end up getting us nuked next time (see Iran’s experimental testing of an advanced nuclear warhead). That we should all run out and dig a 1060’s style bomb shelter/bunker in our back yards....quick?

Or did we learn something else? I’m confused about what we learned. Enlighten me.

The Army used to have and still may have what is called a Suitability Evaluation Board. The Board does not need much to toss an officer like this clown out on his ass. The Board could have swiftly convened and relieved him from active duty under honorable or general conditions. There is very little this clown could have done to fight an administrative discharge considering his last OER.
