Speaking of lawyers, I was wondering - given the increasing evidence of “signs” that were missed or ignored about Hasan - if the victims’ families are able to sue the Army and DOD for obvious incompetence and/or intentional malfeasance that resulted in their loved ones being slaughtered?
Don’t know the legal issues/protections for the Feds. But, if they were aware of this ticking Muzzie time bomb and elected to do nothing but shuffle him out of Walter Reed to another posting, someone should be held accountable.
No, the victims, nor their families will be able to sue. There was a Supreme Court decision from 1951 named Feres v United States. From it, sprung what has become known as the Feres Doctrine. The Supreme Court ruled that the service members and their families could not sue the government for negligence - either institutionalized negligence, or the negligence of a specific individual.
