A Drudge article today trumpets the alarm that 247 members of congress are millonaires. Among the highlights: Two-hundred-and-thirty-seven members of Congress are millionaires. That’s 44 percent of the body – compared to about 1 percent of Americans overall. Included was an estimate of VP Joe Biden's net worth, which would seem to assure us that he truly is a man of the people.
Ms Caddis need to change to the same folks who do good Ole Joe's accounting.

Am I somehow unworthy of the sacrament simply because I sleep with a Tucomma?
Writing their own ticket.
I see a problem.
Position yourself to gain from the very laws you write.
Look at the BS Al Gore is doing with his political clout
A million is not what is used to be.
The is especially the case for those that live in areas that saw a run up in real estate prices, but not a significant decline.
Mmmm. Where’s Pelosi and Feinstein. I know they are extremely well off.
Off hand, only Rockefeller went there already having his fortune. Could be more but he is the prime example of ‘had it before I got here’.
As for the majority, say possibly 95%, got it during their first term.
Remind me again why we, the American voter, doesn’t vote term limits on their elected representatives? Oh, that’s right ... mine the good one!
If I had a million I would move to the country L0L
It is not un-American if you obtain it using the formula you described.
People tend to frown upon those who get "theirs" through bribery, graft, corruption, and picking people's pockets, however.
We have a problem in our gov with lack of term limits.
We all know it. These Lawyers and Politicians are all lining their nests
The biggest problem however is public apathy. We do have the means to vote the bums out.
The question to ask is how do you become a millionaire at a job where you make $165,000 dollars a year and have to keep two residences.
Now folks like Murtha have been there for 29 years , where did he get all of his money?
But , of course there are those who were millionaires before they started working for the people.
Lobbyists make $300,000 a year so daschle got a big raise when he got defeated???? OR did he??
I begrudge nobody riches that have been honestly come by.
However, ethics are one of the things that can be taught but not bought.
If he is worth only $27,000.00 then there is something wrong with the accounting input. Since his income from VP is over $200,000.00 and in the Royal 100 Club he was making over $145,000.00 and his retirement income from "We The People" will be for over $150,000.00 per year with medical care furnished by the US Royal 100 Club.
They become millionaires, then PASS MANY LAWS THAT PREVENT ANYONE ELSE FROM JOINING THEIR RANKS.
Golly, it’s almost like they don’t want the rest of us to have the same opportunity.
Remind me again why we, the American voter, doesnt vote term limits on their elected representatives? Oh, thats right ... mine the good one!................................ Who makes the laws?? Do you think they want to kill their golden goose? So they put it in a referendum, we don’t vote on it, they do. Will it make it to the ballot box without their approval?
Totally agree!
All public office should be term limited from the local dog catcher up to President. All levels of government (Federal, State, Local and all the new taxing jurisdictions cropping up over the last dozen years).
With the USSC decision a number of years back on Senators terms (we lost limits) it seems that repeal of the 17th Amendment (and get back to the Constitution) or a new amendment to enact limits on all Federal and State office holders.
But I’ll not hold my breath on the Amendments.
what’s a Tucomma?
So much for -of the people, by the people for the people...
Keep leaning on them.
Our SC is a problem spot
That's for sure. I am sure Joe has a VERY creative accountant/financial adviser. Don't they usually include the value of your house in the total? I can't believe a buddy of the Kennedys is broke.
