Graham: House Bill "D.O.A." in the Senate

(CBS) Senator Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said the health care bill passed last night by the House of Representatives is "dead on arrival to the Senate."

Graham argued that the House bill was "written for liberals, by liberals.

"Just look at how it passed; it passed 220 to 215. It passed by two votes. You had [39] Democrats vote against the bill," Graham told "Face the Nation" host Bob Schieffer Sunday.

He also admitted that if it were to come down to it, he would join his independent colleague Senator Joe Lieberman, I-Conn., in filibustering a bill including the so-called public option should it come to the Senate floor.

"The House bill is a non-starter in the Senate," he added. "I just think the construct out of the House and what exists in the Senate is not going to pass, and I hope and pray it doesn't because it would be a disaster for the economy and health care," Graham concluded.

Graham believed a public option would "destroy" private health care, saying that insurance companies could not compete against the lower premiums of a government-backed plan. "It will be a death blow to private choice," he said.

It would be worth paying them a million dollars a year as long as it was paying them to say away from DC and work. Would that be considered a bribe or just a union-style job?

That’s the point. They take the money and go off to some place else and leave the rest of us alone. They can’t take off enough time to suit me. I will NEVER complain about how much time they take off.

My concern is taht even if the Republicans win large numbers next election, what does everyohne think they will do with their new found power?

I have serious doubts that, once victorious, they will use the power they have obtained in any truly bold and conservative manner.

They will cave to the will of the majority and reach out to the Dems...

I’m with ya on that. The less they’re in DC, the less damage they can do. I recall a famous quote by one of our founding fathers or statesmen regarding that...just can’t remember it right now.

Many had already walked the plan with Cap & Trade, also going nowhere, it would seem.

There’s that. Hope springs eternal?

They had control of all three branches in Bush’s first term and what did they do with that power? Not much. They did manage to keep us safe from another terrorist attack though. To me, that is the government’s main job. Maybe even the only job it should have.

Now....the federal government is failing us in about every way it can fail us...by trying to enslave us and tanking the economy and failing to support our military. All that’s missing now is another terrorist attack ..only with WMDs next time. I read where Zero cut funding to inspections at ports of entry for nuclear materials. Ain’t life great!

I sure hope he’s right on this. But we heard the same thing about how the bill would fare in the house.

I have serious doubts that, once victorious, they will use the power they have obtained in any truly bold and conservative manner.

That depends on whether we elect conservative patriots or spineless RINOs and traitorous DIABLOs.

Once Republicans get that power, it's our job to make sure they know that they are expected to use it. There's no reason the Tea Parties should stop even if we have both houses of Congress and the White House; they need to continue - if only to remind the politicians who they work for.

Boy, ain’t that the truth! You’ve got to admit....they really had a way with words back then. A ‘cut to the chase’ and no mincing words (no political correctness either) way of speaking. We need some of that today..more than ever now.

You have the right to bitch but remember loose lips sink ships and anything you say may change a voter’s mind somewhere, create an activist.

It’s a propaganda war.

When I post on the internet and I have been for many years, I always try to destroy the Democrat party no matter the subject. But I really do believe the Democrats are Marxists and the threat to our way of life as the Democrats sneaking this socialism bill through shows.

This was all about Pelosi covering her ass and getting a win. Knowing that it is doomed in the Senate, she can still say that she did her part.
