Pelosi Wins The Day
Jonathan Allen Sun Nov 8
Nancy Pelosi clapped her hands as she left the House floor late Saturday night.
That was easy, the speaker said with a smile. It wasnt. She had just delivered a promise decades of her predecessors failed to bring home, harnessing her uncommon focus, vote-counting acumen and consensus-building skills to bring tens of millions of Americans a giant leap closer to having health insurance coverage with a 220-215 roll call.
Somebody asked me if this was a victory for [President] Barack Obama. Its not. This victory belongs to her, said House Rules Committee Chairwoman Louise Slaughter (D-N.Y.). As far as I know she never sleeps nor eats.
The bills fate, for now, rests across the Capitol in the hands of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.). But with Saturdays vote, Pelosi proved yet again she is the able master of a Democratic Caucus that is enjoying its greatest political and legislative success since at least the beginning of the Clinton administration and arguably since its legislative heyday in the mid-1960s.
Democrats, including Pelosi, view the push for expanding the governments role in the health care system as a new plank in the social justice platform constructed with Civil Rights, Voting Rights, open housing and Medicare laws enacted during Lyndon Johnsons presidency, when Democrats held similar and at times even larger majorities in the House.
You, Madam speaker and the leadership we thank you for the extraordinary leadership which you have given us in bringing us to the point where we are today, Rep. John Dingell, the Michigan Democrat who's dean of the House, said on the floor Saturday night.

This summer Nancy was in negotiations with the Chinese along with someone I know and he said that although he doesn’t like her that she did a good job.
The woman is not stupid. Unfortunately.
This is only the 1st touch down in a LOOOOnnng game.
It still has to pass the Senate, then the two bills have to be reconciled then pass both Houses again then pass the Courts.
Then the Democrats have to stay in control of Congress in 2010, and the White House in 2012, to avoid having the GOP repeal this.
This is a long way from done.
(Mumbling things about wooden stakes....)
She is unpopular though.
And if this bill is “hers”, it is even more likely that the voters are going to revolt.
She is A PUBLIC ENEMY.
Did she allow a sneak look under her fake face and pre-botox lines?
This is a Pyrrhic victory. So the house passed a bill in haste, without really reading or understanding it, then claims credit, throws itself a virtual victory parade and a party.
Eveyone who voted for it might as well roll in dog poop — they smell like sh*t and nothing will fix it.
In order for this to be repealed, we need a 2/3 majority, correct?
Well Good!
Now she can let her face relax.
Oh wait.
No she can’t. ;-)
Do not get me wrong, we suffered a defeat yesterday. The sooner this monster bill dies the better, but it is not game over like the Peloise machine in the Junk media is crowing.
You seem to have a lot of friends in low places. ;)

That this was passed at night only reinforces the criminals, like rats and vermin, prefer to do their work in darkness.
Why do we post this DNC propaganda from the Dem front group Politico ?
They won a close vote andf held in the middel of a Sat night !
LOL
We should send her a Thank You card for handing Republicans control in 2010. Now if we could just make sure we get Conservatives in those seats!
Pelosi won nothing.
Pelosi is a criminal and will be held responsible to the American people.
Negotiating for what? The downfall of America.
I think it was a trade deal but not sure of the details.
What negotiations with China? I see wide open markets and no challenges to China any where. Was she there handing out coupons for restaurants in Chinatown?
