I think the new taxes start immediately That's the part of their strategy that I don't understand. Taxes now, benefits (votes!) later. If they lose the House in 2010 and the White House in 2012, there's no barrier to unraveling the whole thing. Even an uncooperative House in 2011 could cause a heap of trouble, I would think.
