BALTIMORE -- Baltimore mayor Sheila Dixon is about to put her political future in the hands of a jury.
Dixon goes on trial Monday on theft charges. She's accused of hitting up her wealthy developer pals to donate thousands of dollars' worth of gift cards to needy families. Prosecutors say she used those gift cards for her personal shopping instead.

Isn’t she the one who threw her shoe at a white city councilman saying “Now the shoe is on the other foot”?

I agree, Baltimore is a h**l hole. I fled the socialist state of MD five years ago for Florida. Baltimore deserves what they get. The Dems have done NOTHING for inner cities, their liberal policies just make it worse, yet they overwhelmingly vote Dems in every time. I was paying $18,000 per year in property and state taxes when I left, In florida, with the same income, I pay $6,000 in property taxes, PLUS I can deduct my sales tax paid on my Federal return since FL doesn’t have Income Tax. LOVE FL!!

Hmmm...no mention of a political party. Must be another innocent omission. I’m sure if it was a mayor from Idaho or Texas the AP would have likewise forgotten to mention the party.

Another corrupt black Democrat politician... is there any other kind? Do all these people go into politics with the express intent to misuse their public authority to enrich themselves?
I know that's a pretty inflammatory accusation, but it seems to be the rule rather than an aberration...

Would it be impolitic to ask why this person is not immune from prosecution for criminal acts? Not a member of the protected class? is reverend Sharpton on the case?
Just wondering, not being familiar with Maryland politics. On the other hand, corruption is a long established (and apparently) respected alternative lifestyle in New Jersey, Massachussets, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, DC, Virginia...
What am I missing here?

Perception is reality, so if your remark is inflammatory, it is more than justified.
It's like the just the crooks in the black community are the ones who run for office, and use their race as a crutch for their adolescent criminal behavior after they get there.
There are a lot of honest, hard-working black people, but probably don't want to fool with public office, or don't get the black community support because they "act white".
You can take the politician out of the ghetto, but you can't take the ghetto out of the politician.

Sounds like a prosecutor’s dream case. Detailed electronic records of each crime. Just link the items purchased to the mayor’s possession and you’re all set.

Her predecessor ,,, Martin O'Malley left the office to become the governor but before he did there was 52 million dollars missing in the cities education funds . Marty's Father-inlaw just happened to be the State Atty. Gen. I think Shiela Dixon thought she could just carry on the tradition , but she just doesn't have any friends in the state judiciary . Maryland has to be one of the top 5 most corrupt states in our country .
