FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) ― Former President George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, visited wounded soldiers and their families near the site of the worst mass shooting on an Army post in the United States.

The Bushes made their private visit to Fort Hood's Darnall Army Medical Center on Friday night. Bush spokesman David Sherzer said in an e-mail that the couple thanked Fort Hood's military leaders and hospital staff for the "amazing care they are providing."

Look at the faces of the soldiers..on EVERY face you see a smile..they were happy to meet President Bush.
I wonder...the Secret Service would have taken a bullet for Bush..would they as willing for Obummer?

What a wonderful couple President Bush and Laura were and are...when we listened to the words he spoke at Virginia Tech. it was so heartfelt. His love for people showed at every turn in his life.

The President now who was put in by others, doesn’t really know how to express sorrow for others. He does not have that special love for his fellow man like President Bush always had. I miss President Bush and First Lady Laura every day of my life. They were REAL people.

“Heartwarming..”

Very much so and genuine to boot. President Bush loves our troops and they love him. President Bush will also be at the memorial this week to pay his respects. Obama will be there to bask in his own glory, sadly.

Praying;doing;saying;being the most caring;selfless;most proper;protective...actions/examples/not just words. <3 <3

No compairison;not even close to:

bobo the clown & his side ick, strife wife.
Both are wolves, not even interested in wearing sheeps clothing. Crass actors.

bobo is perpetually napping on the job... figurativly when not literally.

bobo is a scary;scare y;shady selfish bastard.

To tired to type anything re: bobo’s stife wife.

Thank you for this post, STARWISE.

Anyone who questions President Bush's right to visit wounded troops knows nothing about him, nor his relationship with his troops as CinC.

I think some folks have a very difficult time remembering that he, indeed is "one of the good guys."

On a conservative forum, especially when it comes to discussion of our military, that grieves me.

One thing I have noticed about this thread though, is that none of the severe BDS'ers have visited. Just like the left, the fact that George W. Bush is a man of complete integrity goes against their template, so they are ignoring it.

God bless every person here who came to recognize the class and decency of George and Laura Bush. After what I have read in the past few days on this forum, it is refreshing in its honesty. My faith in FReepers has been renewed. :)

U.S. President Barack Obama (L) waves as he walks with his family (L-R), mother-in-law Marian Robinson, daughter Sasha, first lady Michelle Obama and daughter Malia on the South Lawn of the White House in Washington before their departure for a weekend to Camp David November 7, 2009.

We knew without actually knowing that President Bush would visit his soldiers; after all, we know this good man’s heart and soul — we certainly saw it often enough over the last 8 years!
