Wesley Pruden: Corpse sits up, gets nice salute [Election 2009]
The Washington Times ^ | November 6, 2009 | Wes Pruden

Neither Barack Obama nor Nancy Pelosi can be as clueless as they want us to think they are. The White House said the president was so uninterested in the results on election night that he watched a documentary on the '08 presidential campaign, no doubt eager to see who won. Mzz Pelosi, as oblivious of the scoreboard as a ditzy cheerleader unaware of which team has the ball, insists her side won the night.

Mr. Obama continues to campaign for the job the rest of us thought we gave him a year ago. The day after the Republicans sent wake-up calls from Virginia and New Jersey, he was back on the stump, working up a sweat -- or at least a gentlemanly perspiration -- and breathing hard against George W. Bush.

"One year ago," he told voters in Wisconsin who probably knew it already, "Americans all across this country went to the polls and cast ballots for the future they wanted to see." When he finally got to Washington, he told them, he discovered "a financial crisis that threatened to plunge our economy into a Great Depression, the worst that we've seen in generations. We had record deficits, two wars, frayed alliances around the world."

Some of this was even true. Americans had, in fact, gone to the polls the year before, and had in fact cast ballots for "the future they wanted to see." Very few voters ever cast ballots for a future they don't want to see. But the rest of his stump speech was a good deal of the windy exaggeration expected during a campaign. But like it or not, Mr. Obama is the president now, and the opportunities and failures at the White House are his.(continued)

The Dems can pass the damn bill. And our goal should be to dismantle the entire program, when we get the opportunity. The country can no longer afford to play “make nicey” with liberals and leftists. They’re too destructive.

You are right. Making nice with them is like having a truce with muslims. They are vermin, trash, and are trying to destroy your way of life and your children’s future. In social settings quit being nice, when a liberal is talking at a party or dinner, rip them a new one. You will be amazed at how many people agree with you. Try it, I have.

Obama goes on.

Long after the thrill of Obama is gone.

Voting "Present", pretending to be Black, and campaigning when told to by Soros.

It’s a sad state of affairs when the bloggers sound like journalists reporting the actual FACTS, and the so-called ‘journalists’ are acting like bloggers giving their opinions and biases!!! < shakes head in disbelief >

Good article. Too bad HolyO is busy listening to his past speeches on his PIPOD to pay attention to FACTS!!

Gads. 2010 and 2012 can not get here soon enough for me!!

Agreed. By dem hook AND crook this bill is going to become law. I say stop using our resources to try to stop it (ever hear of Sisyphus?) and lets start finding truly conservative candidates without skeletons in their closets to run in 2010 and 2012—we’ll clean up the mess later!!

That is an excellent, and important observation, my friend. If you were on the phone with Rush, he'd probably give you a free subscription to Rush 24/7 for that insight.

Nope. We need to stop the healthcare bill, and cap & trade, AND line up conservative candidates for 2010 & 2012. Also to get more people involved in voting.

Whining that we can't win is no way to win. It's also a pretty poor way to make an example for the kids who are going to have to pay for this crap if we don't keep fighting it.

You got it. Boehner was comparing this time to the 1994 elections, and said the anti-Dem energy is 100 times greater than then.

Every conservative who ever even thought about running for office, whether local, state, or in Congress, should be talking to people around their communities and districts, building support, getting the voters energized, even getting other potential candidates energized.

We just might get more non-lawyers into office.
