I do think the media light will shine more brightly on this officer because of her gender, but as long as her partner isn’t forgotten I’m OK with that, because it will irk the jihadists all the more.
I do think she’d have been better served by an a different pistol, but the hardware is trivial compared to the software in this sort of situation.
Sadly, I think our enemies are starting to realize something that the general public does not...most military installations are largely “gun free” zones. In my home state, a gunman would be more confident of having unarmed victims at the post exchange than at the supermarket outside the gate.
It sounds like several of the four rounds the terrorist took came from her partner. It seems that her partner (and boss) is staying in the background and letting her have the credit. This is to his credit.
I also agree about the gender angle with the media, but hey, you've got to love the poetic justice of it: Jihadists are all a bunch of juveniles in an arrested state of development, scared to death of women, and their latest "hero" went and got himself pwned by a girl.
