No. It’s yet another news story avoiding the topic of Islam and Jihad.

Maybe. More likely to me is the media is trying out a new angle.
1. PTSD - didn't work, terrorist wasn't deployed yet.
2. Overstressed military as a whole - too big of a reach
3. Compassion syndrome - they're still floating this idea.
4. Gun or gun shop's fault
If I owned the gun store, I'd be readying my books for a full-scale audit.
To: Bulwinkle
He took the gun into the base illegally. Why should it shock anyone that he bought it illegally?

Maybe, maybe not. Elsewhere, he filled out on some documentation that his nationality was Palestinian even though he was born in Virginia and served in the US military.
I guess to bring up such distractions means that this case too has “birther” theories.
Still wondering how the other 2 guys got brought into the case as suspects. They were released but I am curious about the circumstances that led to suspicions against them.

And a way to give the anti-gun group a platform to start in about gun control. “If it wasn’t so easy to buy handguns, this wouldn’t have happened. blah blah blah.” Those guns just jumped off the shelf, snuck on post, and killed people all by themselves.

Don’t forget that they also said
- “it wasn’t terrorism”
- the weapons used were “ak-47s”, “assault rifles”, and “sniper rifles”
- he was a recent convert to Islam
- he was harassed

The FBI should be searching mosques in the Walter Reed Army Hospital Area and Waco on suspicion that an Islamic sleeper cell programmed the Major and provided assistance.

You're right. I should have included the "he was bullied" defense they started using today like they use when kids shoot up schools.
My guess is when all else fails, they'll fall back on the "well he was just a very SICK individual".
To: Bulwinkle
Nope.
They will blame everyone but Hasan

They were released but I am curious about the circumstances that led to suspicions against them.Ft. Hood is a very large place. I can only imagine a GI wanting to take some range time; and picked a really bad time to be out in the hinterlands blasting beer cans. It wouldn't be the first time.

The Mosque he attended in Silver Spring would be a good place to start.

Was it NY undercovers coming down to make straw purchases again?

Standard investigation. Find out where the tools of the crime came from. Gather all the evidence you can, and from that see if anything interesting can be discerned (if that be a conspiracy, or nothing, so be it).

My guess is that all they’d have to do is find the Muslim employee, but that as we all know is racist, bigoted and ungentlemanly of me.

Doubt it.
They (media) are trying the gun control route now.

From what I gathered (and I admit that news trickling in and even what the officers in the field were saying on the scanner was spotty), one of the suspects did not immediately surrender/comply. Sounded like a standoff.
When SWAT teams say “get down” it is a good idea to comply.
There was a lengthy search for the other suspect (who may not have been evading the officers so much as travelling and not known that he was ‘wanted’).
I don’t hold lingering suspicion of their guilt, just would like to know the circumstance (and not the names).

I know the name, but I am not telling because it may compromise the investigation. Knowing it was someone else’s name is enough to raise the whiskers on my face.
Was the guy’s name Abel Nidal?

...well bambi went to Walter Reed today
(of course the trip was planned many moons ago-the talking head said so)
Otherwise one might have thought he was there to get to the bottom of things
Probably just wanted to give a shout out or something...

I agree. However, I believe the media will use this SOP as a source of spin.
