uthorities say Fort Hood shooting Nidal Malik Hasan remains in a coma but is expected to live.

A federal law enforcement official said investigators have not been able to talk to Hasan since the deadly rampage that left 13 people dead and injured 30 others at the sprawling Army post in Texas on Thursday.

The initial investigation shows that Hasan allegedly used only one gun during the attack -- a 5.7-caliber semiautomatic pistol.

I’m told the pistol holds 20 rounds in a “standard” magazine. He probably changed mags, but I’m just guessing. But for sure, each bullet could go through 2 or 3 victims.

Overpenetration with rounds like this are common, but hitting a second target with the same bullet is very rare.

20rnds per mag means one or two reloads if he was lucky.

Or there’s how we used to do it before we became a more “just, and progressive” nation Eight enemy saboteurs had been caught sneaking into the USA, and the president had a decision to make: Prosecute the men in federal court, or let the military try them as illegal combatants under the laws of war.

In the summer of 1942, Franklin Roosevelt’s choice was clear. Guilty verdicts in a civilian court would give the men — English-speaking Germans trained to pass as Americans — at most a few years in a federal prison. “Not enough,” the president told Attorney General Francis Biddle, according to Biddle’s 1962 memoir, In Brief Authority.

Instead, the eight Germans, including one who claimed U.S. citizenship, were tried by the military. Nine weeks after their arrival via submarine on New York and Florida beaches, six had been executed, and two had received long prison sentences.

Someone should put soap in his eyes every other day and back his colostomy bag up from time to time.

Don’t shoot him, it’s what he wants.

Make him the pig farmer at Leavenworth, for life.

A possibility, however the FN 5.7 pistol comes with 3 20 round magazines which given it’s controllability (low recoil) it’s not a necessity.

The ammo available to civilians is not geared towards high penetration compared to LEO and Military ammo. I don’t know what type he had though.

I don’t think Glaser makes 5.7 ammo.

It originally came with SS190 ammo for armor-piercing capability.
They the sissies got squeamish, so there’s a lead-core round.
I think there’s a third “training” round.

Blue on ammo means “training”, so it might be the cheap training round in the pic.

Not if you're firing into a sardine-can of massed bodies. He picked a spot where he didn't even have to aim. Behind ever soldier were more soldiers.

Specifically AP ammo is made for the military. Standard ball and all manner of high-tech hollowpoints exist on the civilian market.
