Do they mean 5.7 MM instead of caliber?

Yup. Another case of misleading reporting about firearms.

Sorry a little larger. A 22 is 5.56 this is about 24cal

The bullet size is 5.7/25.4 = .22440 or .224 for standard ammo. As previously mentioned, the case neck balloons a bit when fired in a delayed blow back action, thus it is frequently necessary to select a .223 caliber bullet when reloading.

Next will come the cries to ban the 5.7 because “it” killed so many people. Cop killer bullets! Plastic guns!

He killed a civilian so Texas will also have jurisdiction.

Texas will fry him if the military won’t.

...quite right and have a high velocity of about 2400 fps and will penetrate military vests!!

Not quite. The ammo velocities quoted are based on muzzle velocity in the P90/PS90 rifle barrel. It is also sensitive to the bullet weight. The 28 gr LF can achieve 2350 fps in the rifle. A common 40 gr in the pistol is going to be around 1950 fps or lower. See 5.7 ammo. Ballistics are similar to the 22WMR.

oh yeah. TEXANS DON’T LIKE BABY KILLERS EITHER.
No wonder the Rangers are there.
Gonna make sure they get their terrorist.
I’m sure they can make room for him on Death Row.

Media reports said that he has volunteered for lots of recent combat fighting courses that are not part of a shrink’s MOS.

This didn't tip off somebody higher up?

You might think it was commendable initiative for an Army shrink to be combat ready if he got caught in the field. But not coming from this Army shrink....

Most likely he was using JHP’s, which have very little penetration. They fragment almost instantly on impact.

I just had surg in June and morphine tanked my BP. Scared the c*** out of the Anestiologist.
I told her if you want my bp to go up stop the morphine.
Now I put it down as adverse reaction drug.
How anyone can take that crap is beyond me.

Be thankful this will not be tried in the civilian courts, but under military law, with military punishment.

Unless he gets "Gitmo'ed".

If the bleeding heart lib. gubmint gets involved the guy could end his days in a nice cozy nursing home.

Texas will still get to try him; he killed a civilian.

My thoughts exactly.I would give a limb to unplug that POS.
Hopefully not my right hand, but so be it.
I believe they want him alive to extract as much info as possible which is the appropriate response, but he will get better treatment than the Guantanamo scum's who do not want to leave!

He TOLD everyone what he was thinking about doing.
Yeah he was stressed that he was going to see his fellow Islamofascist killed. THAT was his stress.
He decided to kill soldiers here. PERIOD.

I’m surprised that, given the MSM developing themes that he was harassed for being a muslim and this just reflects the stress being put on the military, no-one has suggested this is actually an inside job intended to provide political cover for getting out of Iraq and Afghanistan ...

It was planned.Unfortunately,effective.
Last week,I wanted to burn some garbage in my back yard.I had three fifty gallon barrels that needed aeration for burn purposes.
They were half full so I lined them up and fired four twenty guage slugs through them, away from an,or what i assumed was dead space.{I live in the country in TX>]
All shells went through all of the barrels. The next day I realized that a fragment of a slug penetrated the rear quarter of my “61 Buick Le Sabre leaving a very ugly scar.
The wife swore it could not have happened as she was there, and that could not have been the case.I was firing from approx,20-25 feet away.Yes,I believe that was his purpose and he knew what he was doing. They go where they are sent.

Bump for your tribute to the American Woman and Kim Munley.

An American woman also stopped the shooter at the Colorado Springs church a few years ago.
