WASHINGTON - Born and reared in Virginia, the son of immigrant parents from a small Palestinian town near Jerusalem, he joined the Army right out of high school, against his parents’ wishes. The Army, in turn, put him through college and then medical school, where he trained to be a psychiatrist.
But Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, the 39-year-old man accused of Thursday’s mass shooting at Fort Hood, Tex., started having second thoughts about his military career a few years ago after other soldiers harassed him for being a Muslim, he told relatives in Virginia.
He had also more recently expressed deep concerns about being sent to Iraq or Afghanistan. Having counseled scores of returning soldiers with post-traumatic stress disorder, first at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington and more recently at Fort Hood, he knew all too well the terrifying realities of war, said a cousin, Nader Hasan.

Exactly. As a psychiatrist, he would hardly have been on the front lines. More likely some cush office in the Green Zone or larger base. At the end of the day, this is going to be about him being radicalized. He was walking around Texas in full Arab garb. I’m pretty sure that that’s not something well adjusted Muslims do.

This whole thing is just so amateurish, I want to barf. If Lt. Gen. Cone had to suck it up and follow orders, I feel sorry for him, but this really is a slap in the face of any thinking adult.
If he was so damn Mortified then why didn’t he just go AWOL in Iraq of Afghanistan and at least give our service men a somewhat more fair fight, instead he took the Coward’s route.
He’d rather be killing US soldiers in America than Muslim terrorists that kill peaceful Muslims in Iraq or Afghanistan. What a guy. He’s like the poster boy for Liberal PC logic.

A 39 year old devout muslim was unmarried? As my husband says, they are all latent homosexuals - so maybe that can be the next excuse: he was called a girly boy so it was ok to slaughter anyone wearing a uniform.

Soldiers addressed a Medical Doctor and a Major in the USAArmy in less than respectful terms? Sorry, BS detector is ringing.
Now, if he were enlisted and at a rank below Sgt, I might believe this. But not an officer, and definitely NOT a Major!!
