Jonesing for Alex Jones: Drawing the line between Conservatives and Conspiracy Theorists
Renew America ^ | 11-05-09 | Paul A. Ibbetson

There are a handful of political poisons that conservatives fall victim to swallowing that inevitably lead to "death" at the polls. I could talk about the lack of political fortitude (call it like it is), or even the inability, to articulate a clear and concise message to the people in a world where cryptic political double-speak is considered graceful, but for today, the focus is placed on the importance of who should be, and who should not be, allowed to walk under the banner of the Conservative Movement. Liberals always hate the analogy, "birds of a feather flock together," because if you walk through their "coop" you will always find some very dirty birds. However, for liberals, the saying becomes so much more valid when the associations are linked to conservatives — and the "filthy flockers" that sneak in to snuggle under their banners.

So the Conservs need to “cull out” people that don’t fit the mold.
Interesting.

Good article, but saying Jones’ site is part X-Files, part National Treasure and part pure crappola is giving it too much credit.

Absolutely. RINOS and CINOS need not apply. The Republican party's problem right now is we've lost our Conservative values and let RINOs, CINOs and nuts invade and try to push out Conservatives.

I don't believe we need a lesson on this from Mr. Ibbetson. ..we can figure out who the kooks are without his dire warnings about who we should shun according to him.

The other thing I don't like is his justification for this is that such groups and individuals are used by the media to make conservatives look bad. This is ridiculous. . .it is a false hope to believe, that once we purge our ranks with all those who Mr. Ibbetson feels besmirches conservatives, we will then be loved by the media. Its a waste of time. . .let's focus on promoting what conservatism IS. . .not who conservatives AREN'T!!

Maybe I missed it, but I understood him to say the RINOs and CINOs should decide who gets a voice.

I took this exactly opposite of that. The whole article seems to be that Conservatives should show people like Jones the door.

Buckley led a similar cleansing of neo-confederates and Birchers in the late 70s that returned us to our values and help bring about the Reagan Revolution.

I am familiar with Jones and the garbage that he spews, mainly because of the show that he has (or had) on the Austin public access (read government) channel, spreading looney conspiracy theories involving the very government that gives him the platform to spread his nonsense.

Long story short, he does not believe in right vs. left. He says that it’s just a smokescreen put in place by the illuminati, or maybe the masons, or maybe the reptilians.

I don’t care about being loved by the media, that’s never going to happen. But it’s a huge distraction to have this raging lunatic seen as being on your side when you’re trying to attract sane and reasonable people to your point of view. This guy was the biggest bozo in the 9/11 Truther movement, someone who constantly made nonsense up about Bush, and now we want to accept him because he just happens to have turned his attacks on Obama for the next four years?

“9-11 Truthers”

They are the Rosie O’Donnell crowd..certainly NOT conservatives.

Why would he pick out some non political nutjob and label him conserv.
Big questions on this whole primise.

Absolutely Jones is a kook. . no question. .I'm just saying "the kooks you will always have" . . .the way people will be able to make a distinction is if more people understand what conservatism is. . .I think this is Mark Levin's strong point: educating. When people are educated about what conservatism is. . .automatically the will steer clear of the kooks. Jones has nothing to do with Conservatism. Having to take up the mission to explain why Jones is a kook is a waste of our precious time. Let's work to make it a what it is: a self-evident truth!

I completely agree with the author that one has to speak out against conspiracy theorist. It true that conspiracy theorists exist among conservatives. (For some, the distrust of the government and the outrage at the bailouts has given way to a conspiracy theory of Wall Street and in particular Goldman Sachs. That is just one example.). With all due respect, however, the argument appears to be ad stramineus homo (against a straw man). The author argues, successfully, that conspiracy theorist should not be viewed as part of conservative movement. Well, so a communists and fascists as well. But who said that they ARE part of conservative movement? That's the straw man.

Conspiracy theorists are even more prevalent among the socialists (Rosie O'Donnel, for instance) and anarchists. They are NOT associated with the right.

One should speak out against them because they promulgate falsehoods and for no other reason.

I don’t know what Jones does, but the little exposure I have had to him has not been good.

But one thing that must change among conservatives is the automatic shouting down of anyone who is not a Rino, but who is questioning the assumptions made of the establishment - especally when Republicans are in power.

Conservatives should have raised heck with Bush on many occasions and one is the decision to please leftist demands that all Americans be treated equally as suspected terrorists, for example. What we have now is an insane politically correct homeland security mentality that places Muslims in key positions to undermine us from within and everyone in America being treated as if they are potential terrorits at the airports and on the streets. Conservatives should not have let this witch hunt in he name of non-racism happen peacefully for Bush and the Rinos in Congress.

So we have some changing to do. Not all of it is weeding out Alex Jones’ truther crap.

Alex Jones, Ron Paul, Chuck Baldwin and their ilk
drive the left wing agenda, anti war, 9/11 Truthers, legalize marajuana, and the list goes on.

They use God and the Constitution to suck people in
and then use the gullible lemmings against Conservative Republicans thus guaranteeing a Democrat - left wing victory.

Jones, Paul, Baldwin, and those who follow these cult figures are the Left Wing’s best friends.
