But instead of a somber chief executive offering reassuring words and expressions of sympathy and compassion, viewers saw a wildly disconnected and, inappropriately light president making introductory remarks. At the event, a Tribal Nations Conference hosted by the Department of Interior's Bureau of Indian affairs, the president thanked various staffers and offered a "shout-out" to "Dr. Joe Medicine Crow -- that Congressional Medal of Honor winner." Three minutes in, the president spoke about the shooting, in measured and appropriate terms. Who is advising him?

media turn on him? I need more evidence of this please
But I'll admit that it will be ironic that the ones who will be loudest in defending President Obama will often be the ones who were most strident in condemning President Bush's actions on 9/11/2001.
He’s a muslim or muslim symp happy about a “victory” for jihad. Of course he was joking and inappropriately light-hearted.
He’s scum.
What did you expect, there was no time for anyone to write him a speech with emoticons telling him how to act.
The jerk didn’t even know it was the Medal of Freedom, which he presented and you don’t “Win” the Medal of Honor, it is Awarded to you.
The problem is obama is only concerned if it effects him.....he slept fine last night, he does not give a damn about anyone else.
Why is everyone so surprised by this? This makes total sense if you remember that he's just reading off the teleprompter.
That's just the order it was edited into the totus script.
It says nothing about his true feelings...he doesn't have any.
Cmon folks....it's just a freaking puppet show and it all makes sense when you remember that.
The man should have FORGOTTEN about the tribal thingy and FOCUSED on the murdered troops..Instead, we got a shout-out to someone and the murdered troops were an afterthought..
I can and will read his mind..he’s an a*shole to the Nth degree..period, end of statement..
The bigger the media buildup, the bigger the media fall. George Washington and Abraham Lincoln put together could not have lived up to the press buildup that President Obama got about a year ago.
I think there is truth to that. Its like he’s voting present
“Even” NBC notes the frightening lack of decorum empathy and gravitas by the manchild POTUS.
Who is “visiting the wounded” today at Walter Reed.
A “long scheduled” visit according to WH press secretary Baghdad Gibbs. His first visit to WR since taking office, I believe. Will he hit the gym while he is there?
In.Over.His.Head.
I watched the conference live yesterday and couldn’t believe it. He is supposed to be the commander in chief (as he felt necessary to remind us during the presser) and he had no emotion when speaking of American soliders murdered on their own soil. It was secondary to his native american event. I felt really sad for America at that moment.
I’m not surprised when I see a muslim terroist pig slaughter his brothers in arms. But I still shake my head at the utter senselessness of it all.
Further on in the article, it says that at a time like this, the country needs to see a focused commander in chief. I disagree. The country needs to see exactly what it elected to be the president, and the fact that Obama treated it like a guest appearance on MTV should tell the whole world that he’s a cheap pretender.
I don’t know what’s more pathetic... Pres__ent’s indifference to the Fort Hood victims and their families, or the liberal MSM propoganda lemmings who lament Zero’s perverted “priorities” as being a result of bad “advisors”.
The a$$ clown in chief is a despicable and vile individual, who’s only concern in life is himself.
like Bush spending 7 minutes at the school after hearing about the 9/11 Incident
excellent point
Ayers and Bernadine in their stylish home, must be quietly praising the brave Major Hasan for taking down so many “pigs”
I thought it 100 times more insensitive; the general way he handled the appearance.
He went on for quite awile, about the group he was adressing and their concerns. Saying nothing about the shootings the whole time.
Then as almost a after thought, he got around to the shootings and started talking about them.
