I think the basis for the military anti-gun policy is that they think they can't trust the troops and no officer wants to have something bad happen on their watch. The easy thing is to restrict everything. This will be a career ender for many an officer from the base commander on down.

Consider, this guy is a psychiatrist (their type has always left me uneasy as I think they’re unstable by nature), and he’s a Muslim in the US military who is bucking to get out of the service (after they paid for his education), and he’s about ready to deploy to Islamaville which even a true believer realizes is a very bad place to go.

Does anyone expect a different result? Certainly not you or I.
