An Army psychiatrist set to be shipped overseas opened fire at the Fort Hood Army post Thursday, authorities said, a rampage that killed 12 people and left 31 wounded in the worst mass shooting ever at a military base in the United States.
The gunman, first said to have been killed, was wounded but alive in a hospital under military guard, said Lt. Gen. Bob Cone at Fort Hood. He was shot four times, and was on a ventilator and unconscious, according to military officials. "I would say his death is not imminent," Cone said.
The man was identified as Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, a 39-year-old from Virginia.
President Barack Obama called the shooting at the Soldier Readiness Center, where soldiers who are about to be deployed or who are returning undergo medical screening, "a horrific outburst of violence."
"It's difficult enough when we lose these brave Americans in battles overseas," the commander in chief said. "It is horrifying that they should come under fire at an Army base on American soil."
Soldiers rushed to treat their injured colleagues by ripping their uniforms into makeshift bandages. Officials have not ruled out the possibility that some casualties may have been victims of "friendly fire," shot by authorities amid the mayhem and confusion at the scene, said a senior U.S. official who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss matters that were under investigation.
Hasan had transferred to Fort Hood in July from Walter Reed Medical Center, where he received a poor performance evaluation, according to an official who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the case publicly.

As one of my coworkers said a few hours ago after learning of this terrorist attack (why not call it what it is), a moderate muslim is one who has run out of ammo.
So does the one in the vicinity of Ft. Hood, where the shooter hung out.
Too frightened of “offending” people.

Curiously, I think becoming a psychiatrist MAKES you unstable. It’s far too easy to read too much into things if you dwell too much on your studies.
I’ve always felt psychiatry is something that you should know everything about, or nothing about. A little knowledge is a very dangerous thing.
Perhaps that means the general populations is even MORE unstable.
I thought his last performance review was poor? So how come he got a promotion?

I think a shrink would be the ideal position for a Muslim mole. They would be in an excellent position to tell which soldiers are easily manipulated and can be recruited into Jihad (Chaplain would also be a position for Muslim moles to exploit, I suppose).
Nope. If you are active duty military and have a concealed carry permit valid in the state in which you are based, you still CANNOT carry that weapon onto the military establishment. If you do, you will be in heap-big trouble.
You can have it with you ONLY if you "have a good reason," such as going directly to, or coming directly home from a range. And then it must be locked in your trunk, in a locked case, with your ammo in a separate area.
And if you get stopped during a random check at one of the gates while legally en route to the range (as described above), it will at least be noted in their log that you are transporting a weapon. At most, you may be detained and questioned.
Yes, it's a cumbersome process, and you need to determine at the start of the day if you're going to be going onto a military base at any time that day before you decide to carry concealed. If you need to go onto a base, you won't be carrying.
Even more planning is required if you live in northern Virginia. You can't cross into either Maryland, or DC if you're carrying.

Also, there is no "safe" Muslim anymore. If a US born, active duty field rank army officer can turn on a dime and become a killing machine, then so can any Muslim walking our streets.
If I ever had doubts to carry, they have been removed because now I have more fear of Muslim murderers than regular criminals attempting a mugging or carjacking.
To hell with PC in my daily routines during which, when given the opportunity, I will make my revulsion of Muslims known.
If that were true you would see more shootings. Personally I think this scumbag planned it out. It was a target rich area with unsuspecting victims. We’ll see as the story unravels.
I actually hope the guy lives so we can understand the motive because when we find out I don’t think it is going to look to kindly on the religion of peace.
Oh, I understand his motive as clear as glass. I want the FACTS placed before the public without all the hand wringing that is dominating the msm this morning.

Not conclusive, but I’m sure things will soon fall into place, despite MSM reluctance, showing his religion IS the motive.
