Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, the suspect in the Fort Hood shootings, has not been killed and is in stable condition at a hospital, Lt. Gen. Bob Cone said at a press conference at Fort Hood.
He is in custody at an undisclosed hospital, Cone said.
Col. Ben Danner said that the gunman was shot four times. He said he didn’t know where the man was hit, nor whether all four shots were fired by the same officer.
Cone had earlier said that Hasan was killed in the incident.
Three soldiers taken into custody after the shootings were released, he said. Investigators believe Hasan acted alone.
“Evidence does not suggest this was a terrorist event,” Cone said.
The death toll from the attack remains 12 after another victim died, Cone said.
Jeff Sadosky, a spokesman for U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, said the senator had been told that Hasan was upset about his upcoming deployment to Iraq or Afghanistan.
An AP source said Hasan had received a poor performance evaluation for Army hospital work. Hasan had been a psychiatrist at Walter Reed Army Medical Center for six years before being transferred to Fort Hood in July, the Associated Press said, citing military officials in Washington.
The suspect, McCaul said, “took a lot of advanced training in shooting.”
McCaul said he also has been told that Hasan had undergone alcohol counseling.
Hasan, 39, is a U.S. citizen whose parents are Palestinians from the West Bank, according to the Washington Post.
“Hasan was upset about his upcoming deployment to Iraq or Afghanistan.”
You’d think the crazy madman would’ve been worried about being blown away on US soil, or life in prison!!!!

My local news reported earlier that additional victims have died, keeping the total at 12.

PC gone wild. I tell ya', unless we get a handle on this PC crap, we're going to die as a nation. I was a psychiatrist in the Air Force, 74-76, and I can tell you his Commander would of had his a** on my doorstep the next morning after he found out about his writings and comments. His commanding officer would be wanting an "unfit for duty" discharge . . one of those letters: "it serves the interest of the Air Force and Sgt. Whomever that he be booted out", etc. The OIC would usually call me on the phone too and explain his concerns about the individual. They didn't mess around. We're talking people around B-52s, nukes, security policeman, virtually anyone on the base as it was a SAC base. The situation would be taken care of ASAP and the individual would be in out-processing within a week. There wasn't any PC then. . . The individual sections, especially Munitions Maintenance and Security Police wouldn't take any chances with anyone who even squeaked an unpatriotic word or anything that was remotely flaky. They wanted them Out and they didn't care if they were black, white or yellow. I just don't remember any Muslims then except the fake black Muslims, but that was the reading Malcom crowd and black power, etc. They were different - not lifelong Islam Muslims.
We are at war with Islam and we better start a Major War with political correctness Now, and I mean tonight. Political Correctness is a Cancer on America and needs to immediately be taken more seriously.

It WAS in fact a terrorist event, in the way AT THE VERY LEAST , that any act of multiple murders and massacres are terrorist events, politically, or religiously inspired , or not. Hasan should’ve been taken seriously when he started talking about these things, and there were more than a few people who heard him say them, and ignored them. We never learn. Think there will be a review of how we might avert these acts of murderous aggression in the future? I don’t think so. The Virginia Tech murderer also paved his way with lots of warning signs that were overlooked, or dismissed. Everyone in ‘authority’ is afraid to act pre-emptively, so they basically wind up dying. Or, should I say, WE wind up dying!

My comments from anotehr thread....
1) At this time, No one knows or has reported what make/model of pistols the shooter used.
2) Let us assume that he had 2 Beretta M9 - 9MM military issue pistols.
3) Beretta M9 uses a 15 rd dbl stack magazine.
4) Two gun w/1 magazine each = 30 rds. 2 magazines each pistol = 60 rds. continue the math.
5) Magazine drop/reload = 3 to 5 seconds..
6) volume of targets in close confine area..
There were a lot of deaths and injuries. But, there could have been more had it not been for the response of the civilian PD.

Twelve are dead by the shooter with two hand guns one of which was a semi-automatic and 31 injured. If he had to put another clip in why didn’t someone jump him.
Looks like after reading the Killeen paper that there was a civilian cop killed just not the one that shot the shooter but that could chance by tomorrow as well.
There are 10 victims at the Level 1 Trauma Center in Temple about 30 miles away. The one paper also said that the hospital in Temple is now shut down — bet the perp is there.
And I’ll bet there are a flock of TV network lawyers having diarrhea attacks over what may have been said over their airwaves during the time that everyone assumed the shooter was dead. Just shows how wrong many Obama-recognized “real news organizations” can be.
Fox News held back on giving out the name until it was confirmed by the Pentagon and for that they deserve credit. Screw ratings and being first to repeat hearsay, “Abundance of Caution” should be SOP in these situations.
Obama will send Holder in for this poor deranged muslim.
