UPDATE: Fort Hood Casualty Count Rises
As many as nine people are dead and as many as 30 more are injured after two or more gunmen in military uniforms opened fire Thursday afternoon in a deployment processing center at Fort Hood. Schools on and around the post are locked down and hospitals report receiving mass casualties.

Nine confirmed dead, many wounded as military police respond to active shooter
FORT HOOD, Texas According to numerous reports, at least nine people are dead and another dozen wounded in a shooting at the U.S. Armys Fort Hood. The base, which is the largest U.S. military installation in the world and home of both the 1st Cavalry Division and the First Army Division West, is located outside Killeen, Texas. Nearby schools have been put on soft lockdown, authorities told an Austin TV station.

It was unknown whether victims are soldiers or civilians. One gunman was reportedly in custody and another was on the loose, according to an early report from NBC News.
Barbara Starr, Pentagon Reporter for CNN reported at 1330 hrs. (Pacific Time) that as many as nine people dead and as many as 30 have been wounded.
Carroll Smith, Public Information Officer for nearby Killeen Police Department, told PoliceOne that her department is standing by and ready to aid in the response. Smith confirmed that there were two attackers “one shooter is in custody, one other is contained,” Smith said.
