SNIPPET: “U.S. intelligence agencies were aware months ago that Army Major Nidal Malik Hasan was attempting to make contact with people associated with al Qaeda, two American officials briefed on classified material in the case told ABC News.
Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan tried to make contact with people linked to al Qaeda.
According to the officials, the Army was informed of Hasan’s contact, but it is unclear what, if anything, the Army did in response.”

“ Maj. Nidal Hasan, 39, the alleged gunman in the November 5th Fort Hood shootings, served as the co-chair of a panel which examined “Medical Issues for Psychiatrists in Disasters” at the American Psychiatric Association’s (APA) annual conference held this past May in San Francisco.
Among the other experts on the panel was Col. Elspeth Ritchie, M.D., M.P.H., a Harvard-trained psychiatrist who is widely referred to as the “Army’s top psychiatrist,” in her role as the Medical Director at the Strategic Communication Directorate Office of the Army Surgeon General.Dr. Hasan’s role as co-chair of the panel would indicate that he was better known professionally, and more highly regarded in his field of disaster psychiatry, than has been previously reported. If you research ‘suicides in the military’ between 2006-2008, you will find that over the last few years, the anti-war media and leftist democrats harped on those reports for quite awhile and used them to drum up opposition to the war. Hasan helped to prepare those reports for Congress. If you will also recall, in a tape from Al Qaeda during that time, OBL made mention of our soldiers ‘committing suicides in mass’. The media and far left wing groups also love to quote Col. Elspeth Ritchie, M.D., M.P.H.,because in 2008 she told a reporter that our mentally ill soldiers with PTSD were being sent back to the battlefields because we didn’t have enough troops. The left wing media and the anti-war democrats seized on her words at the time and used them for political purposes. She was quoted on many, many anti-war sites as the new darling of the anti-war radicals. She is mentioned above as co-chairing that APA meeting with Hasan.
I also found it odd that the names on this report have been removed:(I suspect they have removed Hasan’s name)

Both the agencies and policy making levels of the administration are aware of more Hasan’s.

Adding to the research on Hasan’s co-chair at the event mentioned in my previous post. She was scheduled to give a presentation on PTSD and suicides in the military to none other than the Center For American Progress in 2004:

Val Finnell, Hasan’s classmate at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md., told FoxNews.com in an exclusive interview. He and Hasan were students in the school’s public health master’s degree program from 2007-2008.
“There were all sorts of ... comments made throughout the year that made me question his loyalty to the United States, but nothing was done,” said Finnell, who recalled one class during which Hasan gave a presentation justifying homicide bombings.”
