Maybe a family lawyer got wind the cuz was on the horn with Shep?
If the perp didn't want the war and the killing that goes with it, why did he join the military in the first place.....or later ask for a discharge on conscientous objector status.....or shoot himself because of his inner turmoil instead of taking all the innocents with him?

Because docs can’t afford the insurance while doing their residency and not making much money. Many docs get their start in the military. Why did he not leave after he finished all his schooling and his time? He was a major; thus I’d say it’s a safe bet that he had been in the Military past his commission.

Perhaps the military paid for his schooling, and he had to serve a minimum number of years otherwise have to pay it back?
