Daytime Diva Giving Up Syndicated Talk Show & Moving To Her Cable Network In 2011
(exerpt)
The industry has been betting that the daytime diva would extend The Oprah Winfrey Show for at least another year or two because of the huge cash license fees which stations have long paid her. But people around Oprah are telling me that won't happen. They say that Discovery Communications chief David Zaslav has demanded that Oprah "move it or lose it" -- move her talk show to OWN, or risk losing the Oprah Winfrey Network altogether. I've learned that in coming days Winfrey and Discovery will issue a press release announcing OWN's on-air launch for the start of 2011. And, in several weeks, Oprah will tell the public that she's ending her syndicated Chicago-based daytime talk show when her current deal runs out and moving it to OWN headquarters in Los Angeles probably as soon as mid-2011.

And I feel fine.
She probably is moving to her cable channel to try and avoid a total collapse of her channel and investment IMO.
Sorry...duplicate post. Got posted while I pasted.
Me myself and I never did know Oprah, nor do I, myself, or I ever want to know Oprah.
that's hope and change I can live with.
I have heard that our cable system won’t be carrying Oprah. Too much bandwidth.
OPRAH is a RACIST.....she will NOT talk to Wayne Perryman who wrote the book, UNFOUNDED LOYALTY, about black American’s loyalty to the RACIST Democrat party.....he’s BLACK and did the research, and she and her staff refuse to talk to him.....some day, people will be spitting on her grave. She’s a PLANTATION OWNER.
I hope the move destroys the racist beeyotch’s empire.
Whatever.
Just an opportunity to not watch her somewhere else.
I have been predicting this one for a year.
Her ratings since she bowed low before the Obamamessiah have been dropping like a rock. They are now so bad that many stations will no longer pay the price for carrying her show because it no longer generates enough money to warrant them paying so much for the rights to broadcast it. Also, seeing as it is no longer a ratings “winner” those stations that still carry it will move it to less attractive time slots (late night for example) in order to put more popular shows in her old slot so they can get the carry over into their newscasts.
In simpler terms Oprah killed her own golden goose by worshiping the Obamamessiah. There is no way she will generate the money she has generated by moving her show to cable. I predict that both her show and her cable channel will be out of business within two years.
I don’t have cable.
Does this mean I won’t be able to see the her face when I scan the TV channels?
If so, YIPPEE, and YAHOOY!!!! Good riddance. Over inflated rich plantation owner.
The CEOs of the Chicago Kentucky Fried Chickens wept.
And don’t let the door hit her wide posterior on the way out!
I saw her (on tv) yesterday. If she gains any more weight, she’ll have to move her show to an Imax. Michelle ‘bama can’t be far behind (pun intended).
I haven’t watched her in about 10 years. My life is better for it.
I forgot Oprah back in 1997 when I realized she was a racist.
Back then she was still enjoying high ratings and fat cash license fees from TV stations and big popularity. But that was then, and this now. Her ratings have been in double-digit decline in recent years. And given the financial crisis which has put TV stations on life support because of the plunge in advertising, Oprah was unlikely to be able to demand another big cash raise to continue her show in syndication -- especially in today's climate when stations are bartering with syndicators, not paying them. "It had the potential to bankrupt stations. She would have wanted all cash up front. GMs would have told her to go away," one source explains to me. When Oprah leaves syndication, it will open up time slots and free up station cash not just for syndication's existing stars (which now include Harpo's own Dr Phil, Rachael Ray and Dr Oz) but also new ones.
