Memory Cards Forgotten in 7 Ga. Voting Machines

Memory cards in seven voting machines were unintentionally left in Atlanta precincts Tuesday night, in a poll worker error that election officials say is not expected to affect the outcome of any race.

Fulton County Board of Elections Director Barry Garner says he expects to gain access to the memory cards Wednesday morning and tally the remaining votes.

Garner says poll workers in the seven precincts were in a hurry and did not ensure that all the cards were removed from the machines. He called the oversight unacceptable and said his office would put procedures in place to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.

Garner became director three months ago and has worked for the Board of Elections for 18 years.

Measure twice and cut once. If all volunteers at the precincts had to observe one another and sign off on the tasks at the end of the day, there wouldn't be any “cutting corners” and sloppy work.

If they voted Democrat, I am sure they already voted 8 other times anyway.

I’m sure the memory cards were under the watchful eyes of ACORN & SEIU.

Am I supposed to trust them counting VOTES, when they don’t even have enough sense to count MEMORY CARDS?

Is this talking about the card with the “smart chip” you have to insert in order to activate the voting machine prior to your vote, or a card that contained the multiple votes cast on that machine during the day?

Of course. It’ll have no effect whatsoever on anything.

The more of these stupid machines we have, the more of these stupid “mistakes” we’re going to have. And I’ll bet you dollars to donuts that every single one of these “mistakes” is going to mysteriously end up benefitting The Entropy Party.

I can't imagine that this isn't standard procedure. In CA at least, it's practically the first thing they look for; if you show up at the courthouse or wherever with your precinct materials but don't have the memory card, they turn you around so you can go back and get it.

At that point, the results could already be compromised. Either it's in your guardianship the whole time or it isn't.

They always conspire to find a way to rig the system. Whether it is jamming the lever switches, punching extra ballot cards or extra votes on the existing ballots, or registering dead voters and sending in proxies to vote for them.

There are things we can do like photo ID but that is “wrong” even though you must produce photo ID for most activities in this society today (from entering a bar, to buying beer or cigarettes or boarding a plane or driving a car or cashing a check or writing a check or even using a credit card...). No one asks why they wouldn’t be able to go and obtain a legit state photo ID (such cards exist even if you do not have a car or driver’s license).

I didn't know ACORN had an IT department.

Now I do.

Smiling takes 6.
Pulling this trigger takes 2.
I'm lazy.
