OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) - Washington state voters on Tuesday were narrowly approving the state's new "everything but marriage" law that marks a significant expansion of rights for gay couples.
With about 50 percent of the expected vote counted, Referendum 71 was leading 51 percent to 49 percent.
The measure asked voters to approve or reject the final expansion to the state's domestic partnership law, which grants registered domestic partners additional state-granted rights currently given only to married couples.

ACORN anybody?
I thought the measure was worded funny on the ballot so I bet some people were confused.
Here is the wording and I find nothing confusing about it:
“This bill would expand the rights, responsibilities, and obligations accorded state-registered same-sex and senior domestic partners to be equivalent to those of married spouses, except that a domestic partnership is not a marriage.”
The steady march of this sort of news over the last decade is why I bought my acreage in Kentucky.
Hence my tagline...
My questions, as always are:
* Why 2? Procreation isn’t in play, so the number is arbitrary.
* Why limit to non-blood relations? Mom-kid, Dad-kid, what does it matter? For that matter, why discriminate against parents or siblings as “Domestic Partners?”
If I wasn’t married, I would grab a bunch of my friends and chase these down. Kids today don’t have cajones.
The Washington State measure states that it is not marriage and may be the best possible outcome.
Otherwise, the SCOTUS is going to get ahold of Prop. 8 and overturn gay marriage bans everywhere.
florence ky here. you?
It’s still too close to truly call it, and with most of the voting done by mail-in ballot, it’s still a long way to go until a final outcome.
However, if it passes....I predict an earthquake or somesuch massive disaster inside a year. You don’t thumb your nose at God and expect no consequences.
The domestic partnership law has been on the books for six months and there has not been a major earthquake, volcano eruption, flood, famine, plague or pestilence in Washington State.
However, they did have that tsunami warning about a month or so ago.
Welcome to Sodom.
“The Washington State measure states that it is not marriage and may be the best possible outcome.”
That’s the homosexual’s dirty little secret. Because now it is only one step to marriage. And you can bet they will not stop until that happens. And the way the voting went in Sodom it won’t be long.
Microsoft, Boeing, Nike and Google all donated to the Pro 71 Campaign.
So, what ever you do, do not use a computer with Microsoft software, or get on an airline that uses Boeing products or wear Nikes or use the Google.
The problem is not that the voters are willing to approve Domestic Partnerships, but rather that Ted Olson will take the case against Prop. 8 to the SCOTUS and win.
I hope there is an extensive investigation into how the homosexuals funded their campaign. We have found time and time again that they will go to any extent to push their propaganda including harassing people. I hope this is overturned as the majority of people reject their sickening lifestyle. AIDS alone has cost our health care system billions.
Looks like the campaign for Ref 71 got funding from Boeing, Nike, Microsoft and Google.
And now that Prop. 71 has been passed by the voters, there is no way other than a Court Order to overturn the will of the voters.
And do you really want Justices Stevens, Ginsburg, Bryer, Kennedy and Sotomayor deciding if domestic partnerships are legal?
This is kinda odd....As of 12:27am Measure 71 has 30,000 more votes cast than measure 1033. both on the same ballot.
It is not uncommon for people to skip voting on a certain measure or candidate on the ballot.
In Washington, it doesn’t matter what the vote is. It’s only the counting in back rooms that matters.
