City Controller Annise Parker is expected to face former City Attorney Gene Locke in a runoff to be the next mayor of Houston. Political pundits had long predicted that Parker, with her strong base of inside-the-loop support, was all but a shoo-in for the runoff. Parker herself had felt just as confident, and with more than 90 percent of the precincts reporting, her confidence appeared justified.

Parker is less liberal than Locke, so I suppose it's down to the lesser of two evils...
Morales has his handed to him this evening.
I imagine Parker will win the runoff unless the churches go after her for being a lesbian.
Top 3 rat getters were all rats. The only Republican (and Latino) in the race came in 4th with 20%.
Orlando Sanchez (R) almost winning in 2001 seems like a lifetime ago for Houston. I still remember waiting for the returns to come in on that one.
If I lived there I’d be tempted for the runoff to send in a blank ballot smeared with dog doo.
