Conservatives still won in NY 23 (Vanity)
Free Republic | 11-3-09 | AmericanSphinx71

Look, I know we all hate to see Hoffman go down tonight, but it's hardly a defeat.

Conservatives made a stand and sent a defeat to RNC and the country club elitists by driving their candidate out of the race. True Conservatives like Fred Thompson and Sarah Palin scored a victory over the RINO establishment and wannabe Republican leaders like Newt Gingrich. It was the first step for Conservatives in taking back the Republican party.

Let's keep making that stand to the RNC that we will no longer settle for the moderates and Democrat lite candidates they want to shove down our throats. We rejected their leftist candidate and it cost their party.

Yes it would have been nice to have a Conservative like Doug Hoffman in congress. But having Owens in there voting for Liberal legislation is better than having "Republican" Scozzafava in there voting for Liberal legislation.

Tonight was still a good night. Aside from winning in VA and NJ, Democrats were rejected in State legislature elections in VA, PA and even in NJ.

Lets keep on fighting. We are gaining good ground. We will stop Cap and Tax, Obamacare and Card Check. The Tea Parties are a monumental success and I know alot of "moderate" Democrats got a loud message tonight.

At least a Dim will be voting for Obamacare, instead of a Republican that the MSM/DNC will use for “bipartisan” cover.

...there is now a liberal Democrat sitting in that seat.

He will probably vote to raise taxes, for Obamacare and stand with Pelosi on just about everything.

How is this a “win” by any stretch?

If anything, the Republican leadership will be emboldened by Democrat pep talks about how they need to ditch the conservative wing - meaning that 2010 the Republicans will STILL be in a civil war.

Doug is a great guy!! He really needs to work on speaking in public, he sounds very meek.

There is no virtue in losing.

If Conservatives aren’t sitting in office, we can’t do anything. We sure can’t put the brakes on anything going on.

This isn’t a “win”. This is an embarrassment.

The Republicans know how to win - they won’t do it.

So it’s doubly a loss.

I agree. Scuzzy would have constantly been “bi-partisan” window dressing for Pelosi, ala Snowe, McCain and Grahamnesty. Let the RATS own the disaster they are making with no Publiticians to help take the blame later.

I agree. Although the time for moral victories is over now. It’s time for victory. Period.

If Hoffman loses, this is a huge loss for conservatives, it’s talk radio leadership, and every other person who thought a consevative would be embraced in a RINO seat. Thanx for giving Pelosi another vote Sarah.

Supporting Hoffman was the best $120 I’ve spent in a long time.

DefendGlenn has some fantastic Tweets on this subject tonight. Among them...

$900k..the amount the GOP spent to prop up Scozzafava. $300k of that alone used to bash Hoffman. Heads. Must. Roll.

NY-23 loss is Exhibit A for why the GOP can NEVER back RINOs. Look how easily Dede backed the Dem after getting $1 mil from GOP.

Scozzafava was a vote for abortion-on-demand, amnesty, gay rights, cap-and-tax, etc. Yet GOP bashed Hoffman to support her!

The real question that the MSM will ignore is this: If Hoffman had been the GOP nominee from the get go, then would he have lost this race? The MSM dare not ask that question because the answer destroys their narrative.

Ya know, I don’t think that it was the Conservative party that sent a defeat to the RNC, I think the RNC takes all of the credit for this loss. Scuzzyfacelift has shown how much you can trust a moderate.

One house seat wasn’t going to stop the RATS agenda, but Scuzzy would have voted with them on everything from abortion, to cap and tax, funding for ACORN and card check. Better a Democrat than an open Democrat In All But Label Only.

Good point I forgot about Rush saying the repubics were running ads against Hoffman. They were against him before they were for him.

hopefully he sold your name to Keyes, Tancredo, and Randy Graf. Your money is less likely to do damage lining their pockets.
