Thank you Pete Sessions for spending $1M attacking Hoffman before deciding to “endorse” him (and then not even spend $0.01 to help him).

Were there absentee ballots in NY?
Sorry if this was already talked about and I missed it.

I think the factors to this race are as follows:

1. No primary. Party officials picked a candidate behind closed doors. (had they picked someone even slightly to the right of Owens, the GOP would have won)

2. That candidate was not a great match at all (look at the results)

3. The third party candidate came in way too late in the game. If this were stretched out a few months, the race could have been different.

4. Hoffman’s lack of political experience was a liability to him.

5. The national exposure of the race may have caused the locals to revolt from all the outside influence.

6. Dede would have LOST this race if there was no third party candidate. She was more liberal than Owens.

7. Lastly, RINO’s showing there true colors here by siding with the dums.

I think that 2010 will see a reversal of this seat. The conservatives have weilded power in this race and that is going to have many ramifications in ‘10 and ‘12 across the nation. Right now, conservatives are now targeting RINOS in next springs primaries. A step backwards now but will likely reap benefits in the next two years.

If stinky votes are going to be cast in congress from NY23, it is much better that they come from the dem instead of yet another rino. The libs need to own their bad legislation.

That said, only 49% wanted the dem to win...51% wanted somebody other than the dem. That could bode well for 2010 (barring more 3rd party runs).

Will Owens be up again in 2010? Will Hoffman run again as a Repub?

This is disappointing. I thought we had this one. Well, hopefully the dem won’t be as bad as Scuzzabag would’ve been.

Please correct me if I am wrong but won't there be another election in this district come 11/2010?
So this “may be” a “blessing in disguise”...give Hoffman time to plan a better campaign to win next year's election...

I guess all of NYS is a lost cause. If anywhere, I thought we could have saved some of upstate, but the trash is moving north from NYC.

But at least we'll lose some congressional seats after the census with many leaving the state, so the dems will lose some power to the southern states, and NY won't have as much influence in national issues.

This race was a cluster... by the GOP.

They put this Liberal POS Arlen Specter Wannabe in there and the masses revolted on the GOP.

So even had that woman Scuzzy-whatever won it would have been a victory of negative (not even zero) proportions because she would have simply become Nancy Pussolini’s best friend.

A Republican gadfly to flaunt in the GOP’s face making it even harder to fight the Liberal Zealots seizing power in this country.

It is painful - but we have to eliminate the cancer of the RINO’s that actively (and disloyally) undermine our best efforts.

Here's the lesson the GOP MUST Learn from this debacle. Address the Democrats as an active threat the this country, but in front of threat - look at ANY and ALL RINO’s as the next Scuzzy laying in wait for their chance to disloyally actively undermine the GOP making all RINO’s an even bigger threat to the country.

All RINO’s are just the next Scuzzy, Specter, etc!!!

You fought a noble battle and came very close in a very short period of time, Mr. Hoffman.

You proved that you COULD HAVE WON, and that the big gun leftists are AFRAID of the Tea Parties, and the American people, as well they should be.

Obama lost BIG time last night, and you Mr Hoffman were part of the VICTORY of the people over the overreaching corruption of the Obama government.

Republican "leadership".....take note. It is YOU who lost in NY23 last night, not Doug Hoffman. NO MORE DEMOCRATS posing as Republicans, anywhere, any time. NO MORE.

Look at CNN, Fox, NY Times, MSNBC online.

They ALL say this was a big defeat for the Dems.

They dont’ even MENTION NY-23 in their main stories.

Frankly, this was a huge defeat for Obama and even they know it.

Great night even with NY-23.

I‘ve just checked yesterday’s election results.

All of the candidates that Obama endorsed and campaigned for lost.

Is this a referendum on Obama?
