Where did you get the headline? Referendum 71 was approved with a 51% vote margin.
And its not gay marriage, its same rights as a married couple, which is why they called it the everything but marriage bill.
With the following two it has been again proven that if you put enough money into telling lies on TV you can get the outcome you want.
Initiative 1033 - limit tax increases to inflation plus population growth
Yes - 78,111 34.28%
No - 149,739 65.72%
Referendum 71 - “Everything but marriage for same sex couples”
Accept - 164,724 65.91%
Reject - 85,188 34.09%
We can fully expect that the legislature in it’s session next year will pass a bill authorizing same-sex marriages.
