The Democrats seem to be positioning themselves for two and maybe three big losses in today's off-year elections. Late polls suggest that the Republicans could sweep the gubernatorial races in New Jersey and Virginia and the special congressional election in upstate New York. So Democratic strategists have been downplaying the idea that today's results will be a referendum on President Obama or his policies.
This morning, Brad Woodhouse, communications director for the Democratic National Committee, sent an E-mail to reporters questioning whether the elections should be nationalized by the media. White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters, "I don't think that these elections will portend a lot."
Translation: their internal polling data looks very bad.
Democratic strategists would have been saying the exact opposite had the dems swept these elections.
“Translation: their internal polling data looks very bad”
So true. Now if they were winning such as New Jersey they would be saying the results just confirm the country is behind Obama.
I believe it is Joe Biden who we are voting against, not that nice negro fellow.
Normal pol spin.
However, I think Nobel-boy really will believe the spin.
Ego being what it is.
Yeah, it would be a “mandate” for their Commie agenda.
I love the spin. These elections don’t reflect on Obama, even though they were run on NATIONAL issues, by and large....except for perhaps New Jersey. Hoffman ran against Obama, against healthcare, against cap and trade, and McDonnell did the same. McDonnell tied Deeds to Obama at every turn. While Deeds was campaigning with Obama and sending out flyers with Obama’s picture on it, McDonnell was busy hammering Deeds’ support of ObamaCare and Obama’s cap and trade, and Obama’s card check bill. Yeah, sure they have NOTHING to do with Obama. Right. Keep telling yourselves that.
The spin to watch tonight and tomorrow will be quite humorous. I’ve even heard media types and pundits say that Hoffman winning is actually GOOD for Democrats. LOL! They love to claim that independents and moderates are being pushed out of the party, when all the polling suggests the exact opposite. Independents have left Obama and Democrats in DROVES. McDonnell is winning independents by 20 to 30 pts.
The spin is absurd and laughable. Can’t wait for the Fox election desk tonight with Barone and Hume.
Geez, who would have thought that I'd agree with the liar-in-chief? Likely for different reasons, though.
2010 is a political lifetime away. Who knows what will happen?
However, I think that (R) wins are generally a good thing, and that this indicates the Dem landslide that started in 2006, has stopped. But it doesn't mean that the war is over, just this one particular chapter of it.
Rush, you magnificent b@$Tard.
The real message to these Democrats in denial is this: 2010 is right around the corner and YOUR NEXT!
Of course not. Must protect the socialist man-child, Dear Leader. Nothing is his fault, but anything good - yup, that’s because of him.
“Democrats: Elections Not a Referendum on Obama”
-and bears use the restroom.
Just like the 1993 elections.
I wonder what tune Gibbs whistles while walking past the graveyard?
Wonder if he thinks ‘portend’ means ‘feel very good’.
The fruits of rushing the leftist agenda is coming back to haunt Obama and his trolls. This is the first of a long line of rejections to the Obama doctrine of socialist agenda which started back in the late sixties and included the likes of the Manson family.
Make that ALL politicians...you're next!! Throw the bums OUT!
Unless, of course, the Democrats win. Then it is a referendum.
That's a fact.
No, but it is a referendum on how well their election corruption machine is coming along. Consider it a trial run for 2010.
