HARTFORD, Conn. (AP)CBS sportscaster Jim Nantz must pay $916,000 yearly in alimony and child support to his ex-wife and give up their Connecticut home under terms of a newly issued divorce decree.
The ruling, made Monday in Bridgeport Superior Court, dissolves the 26-year marriage of Nantz and Ann-Lorraine Lorrie Carlsen Nantz. It comes after both testified about the breakdown of their marriage; Judge Howard Owens concluded neither was at fault.
Nantz, described by Owens as our nations most prominent sportscaster, filed for divorce last year from his wife after years of marriage counseling, according to the decree.
Although Nantz, 50, acknowledged he started dating a 29-year-old woman before the divorce was final, the judge concluded the marriage deteriorated years earlier and this remote event in no way contributed to the breakdown of the marriage.

Good grief, if it’s neither of their fault, how the heck can he have to pay over 900 grand a year plus a house?
Good greed is more like it.
lulz, wow.
But then there's always the neighborhood nanny who calls child services
because it's just not right that men can have children without the
inevitable burden of cowtowing to a premenstrual cycle.
Better get a good one and a real good attorney, sometimes they get thrown out in court.
Your good friend needs to divorce his wife the minute the daughter is out of the house and gone.
I agree with your overall sentiment, but let’s face it, kids need a mom and dad to have the best chance of growing up right. They need a female and male role model for personal identification and also to know the differences between them.
Worth every penny.
...I had a divorce lawyer tell me that he’s seen cases where the pre-nup set off a chain of resentment and distrust....and thus the divorce became a self-fulfilling prophesy.
I would encourage this guy to tape the wife and build up evidence of her abuse. Archive it for storage and build it up. Olympus has some awesome small digital recorders I carry with me when I go out on errands and what’s cool about them is that the memory section detaches and connects into a USB drive on your computer. From there you can archive it (they are stored as .avi files).
Our next door neighbors just divorced after 43 years of marriage. it’s a he said/she said. She walked out on him, so of course he’s getting all of the sympathy, but I’ve heard her reasons and it’s hard to choose the villain.
Fight fire with water. Grandmothers and Aunts can make great role models.
Nice quote, but Tommy Manville sounds like a guy who just refuses to learn from his experiences.
Ummm, when she stops apologizing, watch out.
And steer clear of all the Melrose Place, 90210, all the WB teen crap, DollHouse (i still have no idea what the hell that’s all about) and the rest. Nothing will make a proud rebellious whore out of her faster than wanting to emulate that crap.
Every marriage is a case by case, but often most fit into stereotyped roles. It’s why we don’t call men golddiggers or grave robbers, and it’s why we don’t call women cradle robbers and asswomen.
Do two jerks get married to each other and it fails? Sure. One is a bigger jerk than the other and it doesn’t work? Sure. One’s an extreme jerk and the other can’t seem to do anything to please them? You bet.
There’s just a stigma that exists in divorce law that the guy is always to blame or more at fault just for being a guy. And that is the truth. There is rampant paternalism and there are SOOOO many legal practices and help for women and hardly none for men. They can get free legal help. Men have no avenues like this for them. The over-arching bias is if it falls apart it’s assumed it’s the guys’ fault.
Well, you know the old joke:
Why is getting a divorce so expensive?
Because it’s worth it!
I don’t disagree with your points here.
Nantz, 50, acknowledged he started dating a 29-year-old woman before the divorce was final.
Sound like a trade in under the cash for clunkers program...
Divorces are expensive..........because they are worth it! I speak from experience....red
flag is down...
illegal "holding" at the 29-year-old-line...
$916,000 per annum penalty.
