"The recently revived idea of creating a government-run health plan to compete with private insurers may reinforce the impression that President Obama and his allies in Congress are standing tall against those corporate fat cats who delight in denying lifesaving care to children and old ladies. But Mr. Obama and the insurers still see eye to eye on a central element of his health care agenda: the requirement that every American obtain medical coverage."

Do we really need to have fines and threats in order to force us to use care, what kind of market does that make? Can you imagine if in order to help someone keep a job your were forced to purchase their products by order of the government or face fines or jail! Preposterous nonsense!

“Do we really need to have fines and threats in order to force us to use care,”

Probably.

I know two families that are targets for obamacare. One does not want gov involved in health care at all because he does not want anything forced on him. Through personal decisions he does not have health care for him or his family and does not want to be forced to buy insurance. He just takes his chances when something comes up.

The other, the woman is mucho pro obama and thinks he is the savior. She has not read the fine print though so does not realize she will be required to do anything, it will just be free for her and her family. She may be right cause she barely has a pot to pi$$ in but the bill sounded to me like all will pay. For either of these two, they will have to be forced into the new system.

No, the fines and threats are to force you to PAY for insurance. Using it is a completely different manner. They need to do this because there are those of us who might decide to drop our "employer paid" plans when they start taxing them as income, and they really want that tax money.

Slavery to the medical industry. Everyone must be absorbed. Never mind the crashing incompetence of far too many doctors.

"what kind of market does that make"

The controlled market, just as under FDR in 1930s here, and in fascist Italy and Germany.
