Net Neutrality -- Christian Coalition of America Position Statement
Christian Coalition of America ^

Posted on 11/03/2009 7:08:24 AM PST by steve-b

Christian Coalition of America supports the continuation of the policies (known as "Net Neutrality") that have helped build and maintain a free, open and vibrant Internet. These policies have been in place since the beginning of the Internet and have ensured fairness for all people and points of view.

"Net Neutrality" is an issue extremely important to America's grassroots organizations and to those Americans who want to ensure the cable and phone companies controlling access to the Internet will not discriminate based on content.

If current "Net Neutrality" policies don't remain in effect, consumers could possibly have to pay additional fees to have and maintain websites. The cable/telephone monopoly will then divide the Internet into a "fast track" and "slow track" for speed of service.

Many who cannot afford the additional fees, will have to be on the "slow track", which will mean that many of our websites will be passed by because the general public will not have the patience to wait on slowly loading sites.

In addition, if a member of the Board of Directors with an Internet Service Provider (cable/telephone monopoly) doesn't like a certain group or citizens' website content (or even emails), they can block them from going out over their servers.

For the sake of free speech, we cannot let anyone, either the cable/telephone monopoly or the government, control the Internet and its content.

Net Neutrality has been the rules of the road since the founding of the free and open Internet. We believe it should remain that way.

I'm not sure they CC has any idea what they're talking about here.

This is a shame.

You don’t need much of the “Fairness” to assure people can still get to your website.

The Christian Coalition should not have a position on this issue and should stay silent, save for their concern. The full nature of 0bama’s “Fairness” is wrong.

I'm fairly certain they have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA what they're talking about.

what part isnt true?

The "net neutrality" rules being proposed are NEW regulations not the way the internet has always been run.

It is not “net neutrality” it is the appropriation of property rights. the left hates property rights and will do everything they can to undermine it.
