I think you're right. Also, they know deep down inside that they're wrong (as did Satan), so they need to crush any trace of the thing that reminds them of this.

um..Satan does not think he is wrong...which is the whole problem..He thinks he is right...he has no conscience that tells him he is wrong...he is full of self righteousness and pride, arrogance and haughtiness....he thinks he can do it all without God...that he himself is God and in no need of improvement or repentance. Just sayin....
