3 Points in 3 Months: VA Gov Contest Polling Ends Just About Where It Began, with GOP Sweep of VA Races: Three months ago, when SurveyUSA began polling on the Virginia Governor race, Republican Bob McDonnell led Democrat Creigh Deeds by 15 points. Today, 3 months and 7 polls later, McDonnell leads by 18 points, essentially unchanged over the last three SurveyUSA releases, and essentially unchanged since late July.
Today, it's McDonnell 58%, Deeds 40%, according to this latest SurveyUSA poll conducted for WJLA-TV Washington DC, WDBJ-TV Roanoke, WTVR-TV Richmond, and WJHL-TV in the Tri-Cities. McDonnell has never polled below 54% or above 58% in SurveyUSA's polling on this contest; Deeds has never polled below 40% or above 43%.
In the race for Lieutenant Governor, the story is much the same: Republican Bill Bolling today defeats Democrat Jody Wagner 57% to 41%. Bolling has consistently polled between 52% and 57%; Wagner consistently between 40% and 42%.
Republican candidate for Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli leads his opponent, Democrat Steve Shannon, by the largest margin in these races today, 20 points. Cuccinelli today wins 59% to 39%, nearly double the 11-point lead he had when polling began three months ago.
I get the flavor of the month liberal news reader mixed up. Does it really matter? I’m sure Dan Rather was thinking the same, but thanks for the correction. :)
Get out the vote ping!
I watched more than usual television over the weekend, in the hopes of seeing campaign ads.
McDonnell had more ads, and most with a positive message. His wrap-up message, which I saw on WUSA-TV9 this morning hit on family, military service, service to the Commonwealth ... then overview of campaign platform ... then "thank you for your votes". PERFECT.
Closest thing I saw to a "Pro-Deeds" ad was Zero hollering at a crowd about him. Other than that, it was pure slime-machine ads.
I hope the Republican party learns from this.
PAY NO ATTENTION, MY FELLOW VIRGINIANS. VOTE, VOTE, VOTE, VOTE!!!
Let’s send The Socialist a clear message tomorrow.
The MSM is going to spin the whole thing as racist somehow. Bank on it. Angry white hate coming back as Obama’s policies cool support from people of color and the young.
It’ll be a conspiracy between the Klan, the NRA, the Birchers, and Rush Limbaugh, who is actually the Anti-Christ.
There is simply no way the MSM is going to step up and say, “We should have seen him coming, we actually did see him coming, but we had the highest hopes in him and they were dashed. Like you, we are disillusioned, a bit pissed off, and we realize our credibility is zero.”
Not going to happen, but that’s the truth.
Election night I was with my cousins - all D’s - and they were rubbing it in a bit since I’m the only conservative.
I told them that at this point, the MSM was all in with this guy, and my fear is that they will go down with him instead of doing their jobs. I also said that the very real upside for conservatives is that both the MSM and Obama will sober up the country such that it will be the last Democrat that sees the WH for a very long time.
I tempered that with the condition that McCain’s nomination has permanently pissed off conservatives, and we no longer believe we are members of the GOP. As such, if they nominate Romney, or somebody else as squishy status quo, then you could be looking at violence from members of both parties - neither of which think they are being served.
AMEN! Preach it. With groups like ACORN out there every election has to be overwhelming. We cannot afford to have ANYBODY stay home.
It would be a "coup" too
