“The sense that the Obamas are flirting with disaster by parading their happy family life was magnified by Michelle’s Marie Antoinette-like appearance this week on the cover of Glamour magazine — at a time when many Americans continue to lose their homes or jobs every month.”

That’s gonna leave a mark!

Michelle said the strains had been “sort of the eye-opener to me, that marriage is hard. Going into it, no-one ever tells you that. They just tell you, ‘Do you love him ... what’s the dress look like’?”

Ah yes, the verbal elegance and deep thinking of Michelle Obama.

It's pretty easy to see that being married to Michelle would be scary! She doesn't just look angry, she is angry.

She's looks like the kind of woman who could go to bed in a snit...and then, after reaching a boiling point, get up and bury a butcher knife in her husband's back in the middle of the night.

“Obama went on to insist that his marriage was “separate and apart from a lot of the silliness of Washington”. He then proceeded to discuss his romantic ups and downs in startling detail with a reporter from The New York Times Magazine.”

Some more hard hitting reporting by the New York Times??

“Funny how every time there’s a crisis we end up reading about Michelle,” noted one Republican insider. “It’s great to see that the first couple have such a wonderful relationship,” added a Times website reader. “Now can the president please get down to solving the country’s problems?”

The NYT Obama-ganza article was linked by RCP yesterday. I got through about half a page out of ten.

I'm sure the Times' liberal readers gobble this stuff up, since it helps insulate their warm and fuzzy cocoons of unreality, while they pat themselves on the back for having put such a fab couple in the WH.

Those of us who are forced to deal with the real-world results of the last election have no time for fraudulent fiction.

“The president used the occasion to complain that when he recently hopped aboard Air Force One to fly his wife to New York for dinner and a Broadway show, “people made it into a political issue”.

Of course we complained, you arrogant turd...you wasted a ton of money—for nothing! You’re nothing more than a partying, live high off the hog on someone else’s nickle POS. A typical commie dung heap.

I don’t think they like each other. They never look at each other unless it’s a photo opportunity.

— at a time when many Americans continue to lose their homes or jobs every month.

I believe Rush Limbaugh , Obama's policies are intentional to result in economic trouble for US. The quality of life, loss of personal savings have impacted everyone.

The parties and jetting around they both do is like mocking us.

How I missed Michelle on the cover of Glamour magazine (as mentioned in this article) I’ll never know.

GAG. This article is a BARF-O-RAMA!

First I read the puff piece this morning about how perfect Zero’s salute to the dead hero at Dover AFB was....

and now this!

(At LEAST this UK writer ended this article correctly: For all Obama’s glamour and sophisticated intellect, he is in danger of being seen as a failing politician. And familiarity with the details of his private life may quickly turn to contempt.)

Only it is not “may quickly turn to contempt” but
“HAS ALREADY TURNED TO CONTEMPT”.

Beneath contempt actually.

(P.S. I simply do not remember the beautiful, lovely, and gracious Laura Bush ever being on the cover of Glamour Magazine - thank you, Mrs. Bush nor do I recall the obviously-in-love-with-each-other President and First Lady EVER discussing their marriage in these terms.

Further - the writer implies that Americans (at least Democrats) wanted a First lady more like Hillary Clinton - involved in the political decisions being made.

WHAT A LIE - Most Americans were overwhelmingly positive about Laura Bush, especially as a relief from “stand by your man” co president Clinton!

Sally Quinn, a veteran Washington style-watcher... suggest[ed] that the first lady had been badly advised.

“I’m not sure if I had been her adviser I would have said for her to do the Glamour cover because it might begin to trivialise her and what her role is,” she said.

Duh, Sally, d'ya think?

Richard Wolffe, a Newsweek journalist, has already described in his book on Obama’s rise how Michelle at one point became “angry at [Barack’s] selfishness and careerism; he thought she was cold and ungrateful”.

Duh, Richard and Barack, d'ya think?

Currently condemned to a photogenic but stultifying life as chief fashion plate and do-gooder, Michelle is widely assumed in Washington to be desperate to sink her teeth into a meaty political issue.

Yet she protested, a little too fiercely some thought, that she was “so not interested in a lot of the hard decisions that he’s making ... I have never in my life ever wanted to sit on the policy side of this thing”.

Many Democrats who supported Hillary Clinton, now Obama’s secretary of state, have noted that Michelle seems closer to Laura Bush, wife of George W, in choosing a non-political role.

Who’s looking out for you now? Cronies, that’s who.

More on the First Lady’s role in installing Norris and intervening to help pick the next Americorps CEO:

First Lady Michelle Obama’s chief of staff, Jackie Norris, is being sent to the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) in what is both a White House shake-up and an indication of the first lady’s sway over the corporation that oversees AmeriCorps, Serve and Learn and the Senior Corps.
