A dem president close a military base for political revenge. Absolutely. LBJ did it to the people of Amarillo, TX when he closed Amarillo AFB (a SAC - B52 base) right after the election when he defeated Goldwater. Amarillo and the Texas Panhandle went for Goldwater and Johnson immediately issued the order to close the base. LBJ never did understand why Texans would vote against another Texan in a national election. I would not put anything past a low life piece of $#!+ like zero...red

What’s the big deal? I thought the Dems were set to use the budget reconcilliation process — the so-called “nuclear option” to prevent a filibuster? I guess that was an empty threat?

It’s not the job of the Government to provide anyone a job. If you really need the sub base for legitimate defense of this country, then yes, but let’s not kid ourselves about the hundreds of billions wasted on corporate welfare projects for defense co’s.
Within 48 hours Murtha would have a $500 million appropriation to study moving the sub base to his district.
