Well, I saw on FOX News today, that Diddly Dee decided to endorse the Democrat after all, so I'm eating my words. Disappointing, but not surprising.

I think that all of us need to consider our party at length. In Canada, they wound up jettisoning the Progressive Conservative Party in favour of the Reform Party, which grew and thrived on its own, and then when a national force, they took in the good elements of the old PCs and refused the rest. Prime Minister Harper is now in his second term and looks to have a full majority government next election.
I think that we should consider doing the same.
If a third party rises from the ashes of the Rep Party, one thign I require before I join is that the state I live in has cauci instead of primaries. In a caucus, the individual gets a voice in who is nominated.
Another strength of the Canadian system is that the party itself chooses the candidates that it puts up. The people simply vote on whoever they want. There isn’t the rigid two party lock on everything and you also don’t get the Democrats choosing McCain to be the Republican candidate for Prez.
If the party chooses badly, the candidates don’t get elected. Pretty simple, really. Each party chooses what it stands for and puts up those candidates.
