On Thursday, two women who offered Davidson a better life as a teenager asked the jury to spare his life.
“Foster mother Flo Rudd and group home mother Alice Rhea told jurors Davidson was worth saving despite the fact that he turned to robbery and, ultimately, murder despite their efforts to rescue him from a troubled upbringing.
“He’s my son,” Rhea said. “I love him. HE HAS SUCH POTENTIAL. If you put him in a structured environment, he does everything he should. I think he can be an influence to young men for years to come.””
After reading of the utter barbarity of what this monster did to the victims, it is hard to imagine what his “potential” might be.
This wasn’t a “robbery gone wrong”. It was an abduction, torture, rape, and murder case. The stolen vehicle was soon ditched. Theft was not the motive.
“If you put him in a structured environment, he does everything he should.”
He’s about ready to be in a real structured environment. A box six feet under. Plenty of structure there.
I took a young man under my care when he was 16, gave him a place to live, helped him graduate from high school, even showed him how to look for a job. I helped him for 5 years.
If he had done what Davidson did, I’d want his lights put out. I’d consider him an evil bastard who wasted my time and took advantage of my help.
