He has an easy out, if he would take it. He can simply say he wanted another Republican to stop Pelosi, and at the time Scozzi was it. Now that she has botched her candidacy, he supports the only remaining viable Republican.
It would be no less shallow or craven than much of his other political machinations over the last few years.
