Obama unhappy with criticism of his NYC date night

WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama says only once since Jan. 20 has White House life annoyed him.

It was the Saturday in May when, trying to be a good husband, he kept a campaign promise to take his wife, Michelle, to New York after the election for one of their "date nights" - dinner and a Broadway play.

Conservative commentators and Republican officials criticized him for doing so.

"People made it into a political issue," Obama told The New York Times Magazine for an article about the Obamas' marriage, appearing in the Nov. 1 issue. The article was posted on the Times' Web site on Wednesday.

"If I weren't president, I would be happy to catch the shuttle with my wife to take her to a Broadway show, as I had promised her during the campaign, and there would be no fuss and no muss and no photographers," he said. "That would please me greatly."

Presidents, however, don't travel by any means other than secure government aircraft or vehicles.

Obama added: "The notion that I just couldn't take my wife out on a date without it being a political issue was not something I was happy with."

The article explores the effects of the presidency on the couple's 17-year union, and revisits well-documented tension between them in earlier years as Obama pursued his political career in Illinois, leaving Mrs. Obama largely home alone in Chicago with their daughters.

Ok, no matter what I say it will sound racist but...

They go on these dates (and golf outings and whatever) because the “typical black male” is constantly trying to show his envious money hungry wife that he is “just as good” as “whitey”.
Just like the inner city poor have to put gold rims and hydralics on grandma’s ‘84 Buick.

Are evidence that Communism/Socialism is ungodly and why the inner city culture has been so enamored with it. And, of course why O is one.
(I am not saying that “all black people are like this” but that this is the culture that many of them identify with)

Is Michelle Obama a Drunk?

It has been reported that Michelle has a wee bit of a drinking problem (or that she has NO PROBLEM drinking at all /s)

As to "a connection to La Familia" -- They don't need any 'connection'. They have the White House Doctor.

JFK was shot up with 'happy juice' most of the time. Betty Ford had unlimited access to pills and iirc Pat Nixon hit the bottle, or maybe it was Lady Bird? And under Billy-Jeff there was more cocaine in the WH than all of Columbia. And given Barry's history of drug abuse I'd check the 'Powdered Sugar' in the WH kitchen pantry. It just may not be 'sugar', but Pharmaceutical Grade coke which is available to any Dentist or MD.

He is such a liar. He's been married how long? He's had a mother-in-law babysitter for how long? If this jaunt would have "pleased" him so much what prevented him from going before he became Pres_ent?

Truth is, he's just surprised the whole world didn't ooh and ahhh and how magical he and Shelly looked, but rather, were outraged at the symbolism of a President's ridiculous spending when so many Americans are struggling to make ends meet.

This photo shows a very unhappy couple, IMO. He looks drunk or doped up, Michelle just looks mad,not drunk.

I hope they both have an emotional nervous meltdown on national TV, just to show them both for the arrogant, prideful, demented, delusional, narcissistic individuals that they both are.

So why didn’t he take her on a date after the election but prior to his inauguration? He would have kept a promise and not had access to all the amenities that he says just can’t be helped.

You both just described my 2 younger brothers. They aren't responsible for their actions. When held accountable, they whine,cry, throw temper tantrums, and align the rest of the family against the one who tries to hold them accountable for their bad behavior. To keep peace in the family, the rest of the family gets mad... not at the two trouble-makers... oh, no...

If no one forces them to grow up, they never will. I don't hold out hope for my brothers.
