What a game it was with the back to homers. I have gone to many, many Dodger games over the years, including probably about 20 of them the year I graduated high school. That moment may have well been the loudest I ever heard the crowd.
There were two sustained standing O’s I remember. One was for the Koufax first no-hitter against the Mets. The other was truly remarkable. The hated Willie McCovey, in his last at bat before retirement, hit a sac fly. The Dodger crowd gave him a standing O that lasted what seemed to be 15 minutes.
