No union BS to put up with, why the hell would they stay?

Not surprising. The union has been pushing them for so long. Eventually I see Boeing leaving Washington State for good. Imagine what that will do to our state's economy.

It would be devastating.

Just one correction- the engineers did not strike last year. They have gone on strike before, but it is a rarity.

My bad. You are correct.
But I think it was that during the machinist strike period, the engineers were starting to organize their own strike, but were able to renegotiate increases to their pay and benefits without an official strike occuring.
Historically, the engineers union, which is a much smaller group in size compared to the machinists union, haven’t gone on strike very often.
I really have to question the logic behind all this activity last year when a recession was already in full swing. They even receieved about 0 sympathy from the usually liberal anti-business,pro-union press up here. Everyone around Seattle was groaning that they were striking. I think that was the final straw which set the move to SC in motion.

I remember when Garry Locke was Governor. The same “We don’t need Boeing, we are a dot.com/medical research hub! We are way to sophisticated for those hicks building planes.”
I remember the city of Chicago was shocked at the lack of effort by Seattle’s government to keep the Boeing HQ and welcomed Boeing with open arms.
So Boeing HQ moved. And the dems in Olympia farted.
Then the dot.com crash occured and Olympia got a wake up call about how important it is to have a diverse corporate environment in the state. How lucky the state was to have Boeing here.
But did the bolsheviks in Olympia learn anything from it?
Nope.
They continue to pander to the unions and take their side during any strike or labor problem. When the unions go on strike and picket in front of Boeing, the governor actually has showed up and walked the lines with them. Meanwhile, they continue to find creative ways to slap Boeing with more taxes.
