'Barack Obama is the most powerful writer since Julius Caesar'
National Review Online ^ | 10/28/09 | K J Lopez

Posted on 10/28/2009 10:08:03 AM PDT by BigEdLB

This, from the president's chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts. Scott Johnson goes to town, in response.

Rocco Landesman, the NEA chairman, said, in part:

This is the first president that actually writes his own books since Teddy Roosevelt and arguably the first to write them really well since Lincoln. If you accept the premise, and I do, that the United States is the most powerful country in the world, then Barack Obama is the most powerful writer since Julius Caesar. That has to be good for American artists.

Of course, Grant actually accomplished something during his life and had something to write about.

Sadly this guy is achieving far more than Grant, maybe even more than Washington, if we don't wake up. Acorn is being back door funded, so we have probable had our last honest election.

Its a ridiculous analogy. Did Caesar even write? Just another example how they’re trying to cannonize Obama.

No.

He’s the greatest writer since Frank Buck wrote “Bring Them Back Alive” from a barge moored in New Jersey.

Bill “the bomber” Ayers may take issue with this article.

I remember when Dan Rather dropped to knees and gushed to Clinton, "I know you read 400 books a year..."

Huh? Four hundred? More than one a day? Really? Wow. Democrat presidents are like super-heroes.

And this is based on one book he didn’t write? What other “powerful” things has he written?

Yes, he wrote about his conquest of Gaul [France].

.

It happens

Sometimes I check “views” before and after posting a graphic

Then check “views” again

One thread had 1900 views at 105 comments

I checked again several hours later when only at 108 comments (one of those being my “views/comments” post)

At 108 posts - only 3 more comments - the views had jumped to 200 plus views

Now why were there so many new views - over 200 views - yet only 2 more posts that were not mine?

- I am thinking (that possibly) many viewers had emailed links to that thread to others

Or another newsite linked the thread there to direct people to it

Is a puzzlement

LOL, we’ve talked about VIEWS before. I bumped your post about 1900 views yesterday.

I was gone shopping all afternoon yesterday. When I finally unloaded and sat down at the computer I saw that you had pinged. Think I quickly looked at Drudge and email before attempting to reply and when I tried to come back here - Free Republic was down, and stayed down for a long time.

I saw a lot of posts on FR2Yahoo and from what they said, it had been down awhile already. Since I leave my computer on, it’s possible that I actually was seeing a cached page when I first looked. Hope that’s understandable, lol.

Maybe when it came back up, there were a lot of people just checking out threads?? I click on a lot of threads, skim the article and then go on to another thread.

I recall FR being offline

I could get on FR at times - but not get to threads or post

After awhile it cleared up fast

Over the weekend a big Hilton van knocked out three (3) transformers and lines were hanging in a busy street

Phones, electric power, internet access went out completely - When new transformers were finally installed and lines repaired - phones went on (sorta), power was restored but memory and connection speed was not right - that seems to be getting better

Somehow it (also) affected the settings on MSN and everything is reading hour later on one TV than on the other - ??? - checked and reset area codes - still weird on the (clock) codes I use and on onscreen schedules

I’ll have to call MSN Tech tomorrow

I think FR was down for hours yesterday.

Funny about what happened to you. A similar thing happened here awhile back but the cable company was able to fix it in a few hours.

Cable has been on and off a few times recently and yesterday I discovered that the time on my computer is suddenly two minutes ahead of my atomic clock + another clock here!

Computers keep the time correct and even reset when the time change comes so I don't know what happened.

Guess you had a boring time!!
