Cable breaks! California is doomed. Article#15,902
Steel for cable, and clamps, etc came from China.
So did cement.
Thank the enviros & the unions for closing our own steel mills and mining for cement materials.
The cable snapped and brought down a VERY LARGE sort of U-Clamp with it. Hit 3 vehicles, no deaths or injuries.

They are old, and maintenance has been defered to fund programs with higher priorities. And you what programs they are.
They should've went with Verizon's Fios,
Sorry for the triple posts. Computer is acting funny this AM. REALLY slow...
Something like this is well above Obama's pay scale...
OMG
Verizon network has been down and out a whole bunch this past week.
Businesses taking the gaspipe over the disruptions.
There is only one. The SF/Oakland Bay Bridge.
That’s kind of scary. Wonder how much Chinese steel and cement has been used in other projects?
I think it’s a safe assumption since the Bay Bridge is the ONLY bridge between S.F. and Oakland. Still, a competent editor would have named it. Traffic on the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge and the Golden Gate will be hell until repairs are made.
I guess you’re right technically. But you would need to be a local to understand that.
There is a Bay Bridge, a GoldenGate Bridge, a San Mateo Bridge, a San Rafael Bridge a Dumbarton Bridge and a Martinez Bridge, et al.
Why would the article say “a major bridge connecting Oakland and San Francisco”, and not name the bridge? I still think it’s shoddy reporting.
Glad I don’t live there anymore!!!! For lots of other reasons, as well.
Yeah they should have said “the” major bridge.
.....closed a major bridge connecting San Francisco and Oakland ......
So, why should I give a damn about either place? The bridge is a nexus of evil
It was temporary fix because a crack was found after a detour section had bee installed so traffic could continue to roll while the earthquake upgrade was being done. With the high winds yesterday I am not overly surprized
So did cement.
So did your keyboard's stuck Enter key. Just damn!
