President Obama exhorted Virginia Democrats Tuesday to get behind their underdog gubernatorial nominee Creigh Deeds, urging them to shake off the complacency that has plagued the party this year.
(snip)
After winning consecutive governors race, seizing the states two Senate seats and ending a 44-year streak of supporting Republican presidential candidates to help elect the nations first African-American president, many Virginia Democrats have greeted this years election with a collective yawn. Polls show a chasm between the enthusiasm of Republicans for McDonnell, a former attorney general, and Democrats for state Sen. Deeds a disparity perhaps best illustrated by the financial advantage that has allowed the McDonnell and his allies to outspend Deeds and his allies two-to-one on the airwaves in the last month of the campaign.
And even before voters go to the polls, a debate has broken out among Democrats as to who is to blame for their difficulties -- Obama and a national political environment that has driven some of Virginias prized independent voters into the arms of Republicans or Deeds own listless candidacy and campaign missteps.

Keep talking BO. You’re the best spokesperson for the Conservative cause.
Ping
why is he getting himself involved? Because Palin is involved?
“to help elect the nations first African-American president”
...I’m soooooo sick of hearing about this “accomplishment”.
I predict another epic Olympic fail.
Did you read the very last sentence on page 3? “ Go drag your cousin Pookie to the poll”??? WTH?
The socialists were on TV and the phone continuously in VA and their biggest commercial was about how McCain intended to tax employee health benefits and what a bad thing that was.
I thought they were lying and sadly found out that was indeed one of the what the McCain campaign was saying they wanted to do.
Even Hitler wrote his own book and brought the Olympics home.
because dealing with the problems all Presidents deal with is above his pay grade....and besides, he craves the attention of peoples admiration...narcissism. HE MUST stay on stage, he's due back in Jersey this weekend,he was here last week..he stays on the road. The big bad desk in the oval office, does not applaud
Can’t count our chickens before the election and the ACORN fox are done.

To quote “a great man of God:” The chickens, have come home, to roost!
a debate has broken out among Democrats as to who is to blame for their difficulties
I know! I know! Pick Me!
Great line. While ostensibly stumping for Deeds, no doubt it's ALL about Barack Hussein Obama.
From the article: But Obama reminded the rapturous, heavily black crowd that included a group of women on stage who reached out just to touch him after he was introduced and walked toward the podium .......gently teasing the loving crowd .....
I voted absentee yesterday (in Chesapeake). If the crowd (not) in the registrar’s office was any indication, this one won’t be a replay of 2008. Of course it could be that all the 0bots were over at ODU worshipping The One.
The Virginia GOP win will be all about Obama and national issues, and the Dems can attempt to deny that fact all they want.
I think this election will also say a lot about how Obama carried the state a short eleven months ago. The chief reason is that whites simply got a warm fuzzy voting a black into the White House, thinking he would be benign. But now that his brand of liberalism has been put into practice-well, this is going to be a huge repudiation of Obama when McDonnel crushes Deeds.
