Amid tumbling poll numbers and signs of major money problems, Democratic strategists have begun privately grousing that state Sen. Creigh Deeds could prove a significant drag on critical downballot races in Virginia next Tuesday.
One senior Democratic strategist who has closely followed the contest in Virginia said that the "chances are somewhere between solid and definite" that Deeds declining performance would hamper the party's chances of winning LG and AG races. Of those downballot contests, the source added: "They pretty much live in the shadow of the top of the ticket."

I saw reports last week that Republicans will also make substantial gains in state house elections. It will be a very bad night for Dmes. If Republicans pick up NJ it will be a horrible night. I would expect the Dems to focus on Scozzafava losing in NY if that’s the case.
May the entire Democrat party go down the crapper. And the RINO Republicans with them.
Why do a few places insist on elections in odd numbered years anyway? Seems stupid to me.
I also wondered how that came about however, it may work
really well for republicans and may help bring obama
policies to a halt.

Its get out the vote time.
I will be headed to the courthouse this morning to do my part for the GOP ticket in Va.
Do you have a conservative to vote for in your House race?
A thread last night indicated the RNCC was not only providing $300k for the Scuzzy but also massive manpower for a GOTV effort. The elites have officially declared war on normal Americans.
I haven’t lived here long enough to know how conservative he is, but I will be casting my ballot to re-elect Charles Poindexter (R).
I saw that but Scozzafava is in such bad shape she can’t win. So the RNCC effort looks to be aimed at denying Hoffman a victory. They would rather see a Dem in that seat than a conservative who will caucus with them and run on the R ticket in 2010. They have a death wish apparently.
The AG is really important. The Dems have had a plan working for some years to take AG slots and increase the crookedness of elections.
If the RNCC has a death wish , I will help them die.
I wont send a penny to the GOP , I will support Conservative candidates.
They better wake up, Real Conservative Americans have had a bellyfull of their Bull s.
Deeds ain;t the problem. He’s a good candidate for the Democrats. Obama and Congress is the problem
Here’s the Foundation Family voter guide link. Maybe his voting record is there.

I believe they do that deliberately. The argument is so that state-specific issues will not be ignored and swept by national issues.
It’s always been that way in Virginia, and it makes those of us involved a bit weary. We have elections every November. Next year is just for Congressional seats, but in two years every member of the House of Delegates and the State Senate are up again.
I don’t see the logic in it either.
You know I was just thinking how, around the primary, I said several times that Deeds would be the candidate most difficult to beat.
You are correct that overall Obama, Congress, and quite frankly, Kaine are the problems here.
Still, all that being said, Deeds has run a horrible campaign.
I think Deeds going negative was VERY stupid. He should have let the Dem’s media minions do that and stayed above the fray. Still, he is a strong candidate that could win. But the Democrats are going to get crushed everywhere because of the economy and the ineptness of the reigning Democrats. Their best hope is to dump cash into Richmond and Norfolk and try to get “the people” to come out and vote. That may make the loss look a bit more acceptable.
