DC sniper Muhammad set to die by lethal injection

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Convicted sniper John Allen Muhammad will die by lethal injection when he is executed next month, Virginia officials said Tuesday.

Muhammad declined to choose between lethal injection and electrocution, so under state law the method defaults to lethal injection, Virginia Department of Corrections spokesman Larry Traylor said.

Muhammad is scheduled to be executed Nov. 10 for the October 2002 slaying of Dean Harold Meyers at a Manassas gas station during a string of shootings.

And then bill the family for the bullet.

The Chinese do that. The Russians don't. Half the time the rest of the family is imprisoned as well...

You got to see the youtube video of George Carlin wondering why, prior to the insertion of lethal injection needles, the skin is swabbed with alchohol to prvent infection.

LOL.. That has to be a good one.

Too bad “hanged, drawn and quartered” has gone out of fashion!

To bad rolling them out feet first on the pavement with an asphalt roller is considered by some as "cruel and unusual".

Mohammed and Malvo faced murder, conspiracy, and terrorism charges in Washington, Alabama, Maryland, the District of Columbia, Virginia, and the United States.

Of all those jurisdictions, only Virginia is widely reputed to a) not allow parole and b) apply the death penalty.

They were tried first in Virginia.

Coincidence?

I think NOT!

His wife just wrote a book. She is saying that she was the target all along and that the random killing spree was going to be cover for when he shot her. Haven't read the book, but after listening to the description on the radio for a few minutes it sounds plausible.

Only 6 years on death row? I would have thought it would be another 10 or 15 years before he’d run out of appeals.

Not in Virginia, buddy, not in Virginia.

And while I take no delight in anyone's death...

I'm trying not to, but I'll never forget the endless amount of time inside Michael's with the lady lying in the parking lot, and my relief when she finally moved.

See my additional thoughts in #47 ... I haven’t forgotten looking over my shoulder ... gas stations with blue tarps concealing the pumps ... counting “white box trucks” on my way to work and getting the sick feeling that that bastard MOOSE was LYING TO US.

After my Close Encounter, I stopped worrying about it. I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately, with the execution coming up. That whole sniper thing was what caused me to try to become a gun person - not that I think I could have done anything at my Michael’s, but the idea that Bad Guys (not just Muhammed and Malvo) were zipping around prepared to kill anybody they dam’ well pleased, and I had no recourse at all. I was never actually opposed to guns, I just didn’t have any interest, but I bought my first gun a month or so afterwards, took a class and joined the NRA. I just finished Hunter Safety Class this weekend, and I was so surprised looking back. I would never have anticipated who I’ve become.

Would think he would have had at least, another twenty years or so on death row. I am surprised, really. Have always thought a firing squad, the best, most efficient. . .and yes; ultimately, humane way to go - for all involved - but whatever; ‘go’ they must.

In Florida we still have guys who commited murders in the late 1970s and early 1980s still on death row................................... I guess they can’t find a good electrician to fix “ole sparky”. God forbid it should start a killers hair on fire, that would be worse than death.
