S.F. to ease up on unlicensed drivers (Major Barf Alert)
The San Francisco Chronicle ^ | 26 October, 2009 | Phillip Matier,Andrew Ross

Call it sanctuary on wheels: San Francisco is about to give a big break to people, many of them illegal immigrants, who are caught driving without a license.

Beginning Sunday, cops will no longer impound cars the first time drivers are pulled over without a license.

The reason: Many such drivers are in the United States illegally - and thus unable to get a license - and the officials pushing the change think that impounding their cars is an unfair hardship.

Liberalism at its best. Proving once more an incredible consistency in their hatred of their own country, and especially its citizens. Don't read the whole thing just before, during or just after eating.

Gee. Why don’t they find the illegal who ran a red light and smashed into my brother’s car, then took off? Now if they find him, they won’t ticket him??

Please stop by the FReepathon thread and give it a bump. If you haven’t donated yet, please give it some thought.

Thank you!

Worse, they’ll probably ticket you brother for being in the way. That’s the way the Saudis did it.

Only of course, if you’re brownish and can fake a Mexican accent - otherwise they’ll throw the book at you.

And I got a frackin’ speeding ticket the other day for going 5 miles over the limit. I must be the wrong color and nationality. (sigh)

So the cops don’t tow the car, but they cite the driver whom can’t provide any government issued identification that would cause anyone else to get thrown in jail until they can be identified, but illegals here will get a pass on that too. And since no real identification has to be given, this 6 month clock means nothing, since they can just give another false name next time they’re pulled over for driving without a license, and use another phone a friend to get out of trouble.

Gosh, any guesses how long until the local Acorn office there starts offering assistance to these illegals by providing drivers with insurance to ensure that these poor underprivileged people are cared for?

A couple of thoughts...

1) If there is no need for driver's licenses, drop the requirement that anyone has to have one.

2)"We recognize that this is a problem within the Hispanic community, where people working here can't get a driver's license because of their immigration status," Gascón said.

Gascón emphasized that unlicensed drivers "will still be cited. If they don't learn their lesson and repeat offend, the car will be impounded."

So, I'm confused. He wants them to "learn their lesson", but he says that it is not their fault because they cannot get licenses. What is the lesson?

We either need the help of an earthquake ( would be sad beautiful city), or wake the people the h*ll up. Those that are either still flower children, or have been brain washed by their liberal education need to be reeducated. Convicting for fraud might help get others out of the system

If you don’t have a license, then you do not have auto insurance.

If you have somehow obtained the auto insurance, if you have no valid license, then any accident you get into will not be covered by that insurance.

The victim’s ‘uninsured driver’ insurance will have to kick in, and it only covers $5000 worth of damages.

Is this what you want on your California highways?
GOOD LUCK.
